Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

while it hasn't been MY speed, i've done plenty of ride-alongs with officers running radar - instant on.
Leading evidence: 'Run radar - instant' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run radar - instant' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. You have pop protection but just the other day, I discovered that the default setting has the pop detection turned OFF!

I don't know how often you travel the Taconic and how far north you go but right before Columbai county there is a trooper in a jeep that uses Laser so keep your eyes open.

I would have to assume that some will use the POP feature and then write it down as a normal reading and there is no way that you can prove otherwise.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think it has been out for a while but there were false alarms so it is an upgrade for the existing unit with pop or you might be able to get pop if you don't have it already.
It is a radar gun that can't be detected by normal radar detectors, it's called POP. The cop could shoot you and you won't know until he is behind you with the lights on.
It's POP crackle jack....and here's your ticket...:-)
More infos. is on v1 web site. This info. is new for me therefore i just want to pass it along to fellow v1 owners....
you wouldn't want to be unequipted and POPed in the behind ( or in front) ...."while your pants are down"....:-) right ?
Pop is that thing where the trooper can use a function where he only transmits a quick burst of a signal, sort of a trigger that he has. The radar gun is so quick that the signal is not picked up by your radar detector. Apparently he needs to verify the speed with the full functioning signal. But try to argue with a trooper when he pulls you over @ 90 in a 55 mph zone and "Here is your ticket and don't make me upset or I'll give you another ticket for reckless driving". I got busted recently on the Taconic parkway going north. NO beep nothing from the V1. Sending mine in this week, cant wait!!
For those of you who have the Escort 8500 x50. You have pop protection but just the other day, I discovered that the default setting has the pop detection turned OFF!
Thank You
I could be wrong but I don't believe that LEOs are required to show you the gun or how it was used. I would have to assume that some will use the POP feature and then write it down as a normal reading and there is no way that you can prove otherwise.
Anyone know if there is a way to prove that the reading was only by POP? After all, since the manual states clearly that this is non-evidential that should surely get it thrown out.
i do believe that the officer is required to show you the readout if you request to see it - but that may vary by state. after all - you're entitled to face your accuser, right?
i've never asked to see the readout (when i've gotten pulled over, i figure i've deserved it...) but i've heard of a situation where an officer will get a high reading locked into his gun, then sit there and use the same readout all day long without actually shooting any more radar and writing numerous people up for the same high speed. after this was discovered in court (a line of cases with the same law-breaking speed...) all the cases were thrown out.
i think if i get pulled over without my V1 going off, i'd request to see the readout. the key would be to do it calmly and respectfully.
It's impossible to lock in a reading on a radar gun. Only the laser has the option. An office is not required to show you a radar reading, but by law has to show you a laser, upon request.
i don't think this is accurate. how else would a cop document your speed - just look at and 'remember' the highest speed registered? no. he locks the radar reading.
i've seen it. myself. lots. while it hasn't been MY speed, i've done plenty of ride-alongs with officers running radar - instant on. three position switch on a small box next to their thigh. OFF. ON. LOCK.
and while an officer may not be REQUIRED, i think he'd best show it to me if i request - otherwise he'll have some 'splainin' to do when i bring it up in court..... got somethin' to hide, officer??
yes...i know and understand that. so what's your point? you said that radar can't be locked. it can - just like laser can. i think you're incorrect in your earlier posting.
Bob in NY,
Yea I did get busted as soon as I passed the brake-off for I84 going north on the Taconic Pkw. I did not dare to ask to see the readout, as I knew that I was going pretty fast, approx 90mph. Went to court, luckily the cop did not show up. I guess it was my lucky day.
I don't know how often you travel the Taconic and how far north you go but right before Columbai county there is a trooper in a jeep that uses Laser so keep your eyes open.

I sent mine in about a month ago. Sent it USPS overnight. As soon as it arrives at Valentine, they send a new one back. Paid the extra for overnight. Total time away from me, <48 hours. Hopes this helps. Total cost for the two ovetnights was under $50.00

PS. My old one was seven years old. New one is slightly smaller. Friend did the same and agrees wrt to size. The new unit seems to be more sensitive with respect to alarming.
