Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Some have replaced the bulbs to match the projectors.
Leading evidence: 'Replace bulbs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace bulbs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. The US population doesn't know WTF a rear fog light is (except a small percentage) and even worse, I have never seen them used properly.....they are always illuminated in perfect conditions.

Turned out it was a cross country run of several ML-320 just prior to public introduction.

I guess living in Germany I am a bit **** in that if you use your fog lights when there is no fog you get a ticket.

Suggestion
Seems as though most people driving a car with fog lights cannot remember that they ever put them on(or might not remember how to turn them off), because they are on all the time, with no fog or conditions warranting the use of 'fog lights'.They are absolutely clueless that they are a nuisance to eveyone else on the road.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Haven't hear dof anybody doing that. Some have replaced the bulbs to match the projectors.
But the question remains.....Why in the world would you want to do that? Fogs are not mean to be HID.
I would agree in no reason to do this if you ever drive in fog. If you think it looks cool do us a favor and do not do it since all you will do is blind other drivers. I guess living in Germany I am a bit **** in that if you use your fog lights when there is no fog you get a ticket.
There should be a law that says fog light circuits should be designed so they can NEVER be on with low or high beams.
If I see someone with HID fog lights I WILL start driving around with a small hammer.
Of maybe a can of BLACK spray paint.

It's even more irritating those that drive around with one fog light out. Or even worse, the idiots that have their "European" rear fog light on here in the states which confusing the crap out of everybody else thinking the jackass is trying to brake!
Dell, that is why I ran a jumper wire from teh left rear fog light tot he right rear fog light, so now thay both work, and I turn them on all the time!
Just kidding. I have only had the rear fog lights on twice, once to test out the new wiring and the second time.... you guessed it.... in the fog!
Nope. There is NO confusion. That is so that approaching drivers see can spot the drivers side rear of the car in low visibility. The US population doesn't know WTF a rear fog light is (except a small percentage) and even worse, I have never seen them used properly.....they are always illuminated in perfect conditions. My guess is that the way they are wired, people turn their front "fogs" on and don't realize that went one click to far.
Several years ago (you'll know) I followed a vehicle with a unique Alabama license plate over Stevens pass in a wintertime heavy fog almost all the way. I assumed that the driver's side brake light was stuck on and when I was finally able to pull alongside I got the front passenger's attention and told him so.
The response, in a heavy southen accent, cannot be repeated here...
