Suggestion

No big deal, except it makes it difficult to do a quick visual check for brake fluid level.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there anything special about Porsche Genuine Brake fluid or is a high quality DOT 4 the same?

POST 2Original post

Yeah, if you are into boiling point ratings. Porsche sells repackaged Pentosin at 500 degrees dry. Our local group seems to use ATE a lot at 536 degrees. Mostly the super blue racing fluid, because it has the word racing in it. It is identical to ATE type 200. Type 200 is amber color and DOT 4. The "racing" version has a blue dye in it. Apparenty, because of the dye, it is not DOT approved as brake fluid is supposed to be an amber color to meet DOT specs.

POST 3Original post

I will alternate between SuperBlue and Type200 (SuperGold), as it makes flushing easier (easy to tell when color changes to know when you've flushed the entire line). Also, I've heard that people who run SuperBlue all the time will stain the inside of the plastic brake resevoir. No big deal, except it makes it difficult to do a quick visual check for brake fluid level.
