Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Greetings Porschephyles.. (is this how it';s written?!) Ok, here goes my car's symptoms: - Very noticeable loss of power yet the RPM range is fully covered.. I got an SS, a 964 (sorry no offense 964'ers!), an A8-4.2 Audi, and many more easily beat me! I hardly overtake regular sedans, etc.. My wife's not scared anymore! - Very noticeable gulp at 1~2k RPM, meaning the RPM would just jump to 2k with the lightest press of the pedal - Engine sometimes jerks between 1 and 2k... - Very noticeable gulp at 5k rpm (used to be but now the car is slowing down at that range!) - Max speed hardly exceeding 250km/hr - Water temperature over the regular limit First impression of the repair shop: [B]MAF SENSOR The car is going for a full service tomorrow.. any comments appreciated.. Wael Wael

POST 2Original post

Air flow sensor can do that. They will know if it is out of specs once the car is hooked up to the PST2. Can't think of any relationship to the coolant temp.

POST 3Original post

Your symptoms sound consistent with MAF trouble. I was having rough idling and the PST2 showed a fault code for the MAF sensor. Regarding the increased temps, check your front bumper for debris in front of the radiators.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess the increased water temp is due to the fact that the ambient here is about 40~45degC?? Wael

POST 5Original post

the RPM symptoms definitely sound like a bad MAF. i think the coolant temp is a separate problem though. but maybe the ECU somehow thinks the coolant temp needs to be increased due to the MAF problem???

POST 6Original post

Waz: You can attempt to clean your MAF. I had similar issues last week and I cleaned the MAF with the Electronics cleaner spray and alchohol. All issues went away. Just dont touch the MAF wires. Just rinse and let dry. Good luck

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Damn! Too late, it's at the service center... Bu i'll keep that in mind.. Thanks.. Wael
