Suggestion
However from a kit that just replaces a simple hose and replaces a piece of plastic it is highly unlikely it would ever cause a problem, and if a problem occured the dealer would be hard pressed to prove the intake caused it.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am speaking about the one in this ebay listing. A company that sponsors this site is the seller. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

You may be right, but there was a guy who posted here not too long ago about dyno testing the fabspeed airbox, and the thing consistantly made 3-4hp. Who knows.
I have the Fabspeed on my 997S and it adds some sound, HP who knows. The Schnell looks like it should work equally well - for ninety nine bucks, why not try it?
From what Ive heard the schnell is a cheap knock off of the fabspeed. I beleive it actually does not eliminate the airbox muffler and does not allow the same airflow as the fabspeed. It's a Porsche not a Honda i would definetly go with and recommend the fabspeed. It's been proven time and time again that it works. Ive heard over 5 hp! Powertech in Rockaway NJ dyno tested it on a Dynapak dyno(the most accurate in the business) and they got more power everytime. Theres so much crap in the world of aftermarket tuning. Even in the Porsche world. Go with the sure thng. the thing that definetly works. Besides it's cheap either way! Just my 0.02. : )
The Fabspeed and the Schnell are almost identical in every way.
They both are really just a simple tweak to the factory intake.
Consisting of a streamlined intake tube that seems to make a difference in both sound and maybe a little HP.
They both eliminate the airbox muffler.
The Fabspeed is no better in performance or quality.
I got my Schnell for a great delivered price of $90.
Works great - hell, it's not a supercharger.
I recently installed the fabspeed kit on my C4S, so here are my thoughts and impressions.
I wanted an intake mainly for the sound, the HP gain is always debated and who knows if it really does anything. The EVO intake seems logical, its your standard intake setup, a cone filter on a stick. However at $600 I didnt think it was worth it for MAYBE 2-3 more hp then the fabspeed. I also gotta believe porsche designed the airbox to be pretty efficient, so $600 is a lot for a filter on a stick that just makes noise.
What I dont like about the stock setup is that stupid muffler in the airbox the idea of it just bugs me, I want a nice mean intake sound. So the fabspeed was much cheaper, would improve sound and possibly make a few hp, so I went with the fabpseed.
Admittedly the fabspeed kit is overpriced($220), its a small silicon hose and a piece of plastic made to look like CF (although it doesnt really look like CF, just kinda). If I had known about the schnell kit I might have tried it. But I am completly satisfied with the fabspeed kit. The intake sound is greatly improved, when going WOT and crossing 5K RPM the sound is just phenominal (going WOT in a tunnel with stock exhaust just brought the biggest smile to my face).
Also I did feel some improved throttle response, and maybe its wishful thinking but the butt dyno definatly seemed to sense a tad more power.
I think $150 may be a more fair price for the fabspeed intake, but I have no regrets and am very pleased with my first mod for my 996. (fabspeed exhaust goes in saturday, woohoo!)
I used to have it on mine, def better throttle response, always pulled harder on the uphill straight at WGI. I took it off when I winterized the car, ended up selling it after being brainwashed that it did nothing. I'll probably buy another.
Fabspeed stuff is the real deal, ALL other stuff is basically BS, even my beloved GHL's pail in comparison to the sound and power of the fabs.
All hail Joe!
They claim the Schnell intake is identical in design to the Fabspeed intake. I also had a look at Fabspeed's website. Apparently, the modifications inside the airbox no longer apply. That would mean that the Fabspeed only consist of the red/orange hose and the plug. Very, very similar to the Schnell intake.
Has anyone dynoed either intake?
Just got mine installed with a bmc filter for $300. Great throttle response but im not sure if its the fabspeed exhaust or the intake kit. However the intake sounds sweet when flooring it. Im very happy with the schnell. When getting the kit installed we were comparing both fabspeed and schnell. They looked and physically felt like the same exact product. So I ended up going with the schell. No problems so far.
I have the schnell, friend has the fabspeed, when I was looking for one, he tried to convince me to get the fabspeed, I have bought from Vertex quite a bit, so, for $129.. (less than half the price) I decided to take a chance. (Now they are $100. shipped). When I recieved it, he came to help me install, he could not believe that it looked almost identical. Works, great, can't see how one would be better than the other. I am sure the Evo would be better, but, between these two, they even sound basically the same.
By the way, I did add a K&N filter which seems to be crucial for better free flowing and sound (or a BMC), I did that after a week of the install and it definitely seemed to help.
However from a kit that just replaces a simple hose and replaces a piece of plastic it is highly unlikely it would ever cause a problem, and if a problem occured the dealer would be hard pressed to prove the intake caused it. Only if you seriously botched the installation (which would be hard) could it cause a real problem.
