Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Last week I replaced the battery becuase I noticed that the car was "straining" to start. I purchased a Deka OEM replacement battery. In the mornings or cold motorit seems to turn over and start fine. Not a strong start, but starts nonetheless. After driving about an hour to work this morning I stopped for gas. When I got back in to start it, It was almost like it had a low battery. It did start, but not with the strength like in the morning. The volt meter ion the car shows just about 14 volts. Is this normal or should I check something out?

POST 2Original post

Mine sounds like it was straining, its normal I think because I have had my car for 2 years with no issues yet...(knock on wood)

POST 3Original post

I just addressed a similar problem..... When the weather was cold (below 50 degrees) AND the car was cold, it was a bitch getting her started, multiple key turns....sometimes had to wait 5 minutes. First dealer said its the battery so I replaced it but no relief. Took it to a second dealer and they discovered a DME relay module was going bad. Replaced it for $260, and the car started right up this morning at 46 degrees.

POST 4Original post

From your description (new battery, OK start when cold, hard start when hot), it sounds exactly like a widespread problem among early 928's. (ask me how I know). The issue there was a weak connection where battery power was input to the starter solenoid. Heat from a warm engine (or hot day) caused this connection to develop a high resistance to current flow (right where high current flow was required), and no response to key being turned to start .... until the engine had cooled for 10-15 minutes. Then, normal start. Have no idea is this is your problem .... but your set of circumstances is similar and certainly not the routine "weak battery" story.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So far it has always started (knock on wood) but it just seems odd that it slowly turns over some times...unlike most other cars.
