It's not a huge deal if I have to stay with a 285 since I will only be using the car in dry winter days.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm considering putting winter tires on my OEM wheels (04 C2 40th Ann) and next summer to buy summer only wheels (likely BBS). The OEM wheels are (8*18) and (10*18) as most of you know. On it the front tire is a 225 abd the back a 285 (please feel free to correct me as my baby is sitting home and I'm driving the winter truck). Since narrower tires are better, can you put say a 265 on a 10 inch wheel ? It's not a huge deal if I have to stay with a 285 since I will only be using the car in dry winter days. While on the same topic, it appears the you cannot get a BBS RS-GT in 10" ??? IF I want to stick to original 285 would I get a 9 1/2 '" or an 11". Cheers, Merry Christmas or happy holidays...whichever suit.

POST 2Original post

Yes you can, I have Goodyear GD3 on my stock 18" Turbo Twist IIs. The front are stock size, and in the rear I went down to a 265. I also have BBS Lm's on my car for summer and you are correct, I went with a 9.5" over the 11 they look pretty good. check out this post, it has pictures of what we just talked about https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/242952-aerokit-or-wheels.html

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you ever find the lowered car a problem if you get caught by heavy snowfalls ??

POST 4Original post

Yes. It is! The only real problem I have is the front bumper, if to much snowfalls I just push it like a snowplow. I do use this car as a daily but when it snows allot, like tomorrow I will use the MB.I guess I don't need to drive the car, I just love driving it. If you ever see the car you will see how allot of hard work on the paint keeps the car new. Other car enthusiasts do not believe I drive this car in the winter because of how the car shines!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Elbow-grease...nothing like it. I read that the synthetic wax stands up much better to winter. I'm actually considering the screw-less mud guards that I once saw on the net...not sure how they hold but if it's a magnetic type I might slap them on for winter. Last year I left her in the garage for the whole winter and got bored driving the old winter beater. On days like today (pre-snow of course) you can drive her almost as if it's not winter. I have the massive 2500 Diesel pickup truck for snowy days, so like you it's not a big deal if I have to let her in. I'm also likely to lower the car. Your H&R springs, which type are day, the race one ? The dealer is pushing the PSS9 but really, it's an overkill for what I'm doing.

POST 6Original post

I went with the HR sport spring with a bilstein shock, for how I drive the car its perfect, ride is still very good and the car handles GREAT, I thought about coilovers but in the end I didnt need them. If your ever around and you would like to see how the car rides and handles we can go out for a spin if you like.Maybe we should have a GTA Porsche meet? There is a few fellow Canadian members who whould like to see how my combo rides, feels and how it looks

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good idea for a meet...not sure how easy it is to get everybody out....especially at this time of the year. Maybe we organize a coffee or diner meet. Where are you located ? I'm downtown during business hours but can swing to stick around once in a while if the home warden is in a good mood ;-)
