Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm trying to develop the ultimate playlist for summer 996'ing.
I need some suggestions for appropriate Porsche mood music.
So far, some selections I have are:
Goldfrapp - Strict Machine
Asteroids Galaxy Tour - Around the Bend
Steve Winwood - Higher Love
Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears
Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Good one!
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills
Bill Idol - Rebel Yell
Disturbed - Indestructible
Loverboy - Working for weekend (on Fridays)
Van Halen - Running with the Devil or Panama
Pete Townsend - Give Blood
PSE or PSE hack....
music tastes change from day to day and week to week. I just pop something in and listen from time to time. For me the music is used to zone out and forget about the driving....thats why I tend to not have it on in the p-car.........
in the suburban anything is better than driving.... even ABBA I am sure Tim can add some to that side of the story
Lately I must be regressing to high school days, but I have been enjoying a compilation of Led Zep and Rush (In particular, I like Rush's "Red Barchetta" a song centered on the enjoyment of motoring)
John
Red Barchetta lyrics
My uncle has a country place that no one knows about
He says it used to be a farm before the Motor Law
And on Sundays I elude the Eyes and hop the Turbine Freight
To far outside the wire where my white-haired uncle waits
Jump to the ground as the Turbo slows to cross the borderline
Run like the wind as excitement shivers up and down my spine
Down in his barn, my uncle preserved for me an old machine
For fifty-odd years, to keep it as new has been his dearest dream
I strip away the old debris that hides a shining car
A brilliant red Barchetta from a better vanished time
I fire up the willing engine responding with a roar
Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime
Wind in my hair
Shifting and drifting
Mechanical music
Adrenaline surge
Well-weathered leather, hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome, the blur of the landscape
Every nerve aware
Suddenly ahead of me across the mountainside
A gleaming alloy air-car ahoots towards me, two lanes wide
I spin around with shrieking tires to run the deadly race
Go screaming through the valley as another joins the chase
Drive like the wind, straining the limits of machine and man
Laughing out loud with fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan
At the one-lane bridge, I leave the giants stranded at the riverside
Race back to the farm to dream with my uncle at the fireside
<major Rush fan>
it pisses me off they wont play any of thier new music (snakes and arrows) on ANY radio yet the "rock" stations claim to have a shrinking audience?? DUH!! play something new from old groups, or play something old and not the same crappy 3 songs from any group you have in your library!
<rant off>
SRV +1
Allman Bros too
Matt....great one! Duel of the Fates does it for me. Personally I prefer the singing of the flat-6 but if you can't get up for Duel of the Fates, then nothing can get you up
Some good 996 tunes
Rush - Distant Early IMS Failure
Boston - The Launch: Countdown / Ignition Switch Failure / Third Stage

Simon & Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence (after my engine failed)
Righteous Brothers - You've Lost That bearing Feeling
Europe - The Final Countdown
Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Dealer
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away (resale value remix)

And let's not forget the classic "Stormy Monday" with Albert King-1983:

You
gotta
have some Hendrix:
Hey Joe
Voodoo Chile
All along the Watchtower
Red House Blues
Deep Purple- My woman from Tokyo
Deep Purple- No bodies going to beat my car
There's tons of others but those are the ones I don't have now.
Major problem is once I get some of my old country racing sounds then uh oh
Man, ya'll are dating yourselves with these songs! I thought Ride of the Valkyries seemed perfect at first to crank as I roll around with the top down, but just came off as pretentious. So I just stick to what I listen to normally.
Few of my favorites that really get me in the mood to drive, and I don't feel at all ashamed to crank up with the top down. (And even I'm dating myself with these...):
Offspring: Million miles away
Guns 'n *******: Sunstroke
NOFX: Release the Hostages
Strung Out: Ultimate Devotion
Everclear: Heroin Girl
Ministry: Jesus Built my Hotrod
Snuff: Another Wet Weekend
L7: The Bomb
Voodoo Glow Skulls: Yo No Tengo Tiempo Para Ti
H2O: Scarred
Swingin' Utters: Sign it Away
If you're not familiar with these bands, here's a taste:
CCR (Credence Clearwater Revival for the younger crowd)
o Bad Moon Rising
o Up Anound the Bend
Derick and the Dominos (Eric Clapton) Layla
Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild
well, the first one, I liked...not as much on the second, and OOOFFF DA on the third..
I might search around and see what else that first YT vid group has to offer thanks for sharing and calling me old
I laughed - then got scared and turned off my computer!!!
LOL at Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away (resale value remix) and rush hendrix and nirvana
Hey now.........No thumping organ........this is a kids show..........however to keep with the flavor of the post......I can't find this tune so I hum it alot.....chicka bow chicka bow bow!!!!
Another vote for RUSH. Anything from the album Hemispheres! My wife cant stand Geddy Lee's voice and the guitar sound of Alex Lifeson. If you can find a female who is as much a RUSH fan as yourself, you have a friend for life.

"Ja. Well the thing is I cannot afford to have another ticket on mein Porsche. Is there something I could do for you, or perhaps something my wife could do? Perhaps there is something you would like to do to her?"
This is a joke right? Or a rhetorical question.
My favorite:
DETAILS: 2006 Carrera S Cabriolet, with PSE on, and with external remote microphones near the engine. On the Alpenstrae, heading toward Innsbruck.
Interesting list you all have going.
If anyone has seen
No Man's Land
with D.B. Sweeney and Charlie Sheen:
"Main Title" - Basil Poledouris
(just makes the ride amazing!) - free sample on amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Main-Title/dp/...3971829&sr=8-1
also,
"Beast of Burden" - Rolling Stones
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tRdBsnX4N4
(all 2nd place to the 5.5k rpm shifts)
What the heck is that thing? A Trabi with straight pipes or what?
I liked Bavarian music when there. I like no music most of the time. I have found the porsche music audio is better with the windows up.
My specialty is heavy rock and roll but eh.
Remove entire stereo system to save weight - check
PSE on - check
Wait for highway traffic to clear, hit 3rd gear - check
Add WOT - check
Mental soundtrack = the main chorus from Eagles' "Already Gone"
1 - The theme song from the movie Cars (Real Gone, Cheryl Crow)
2 - The song from Ferris Beullers Day off (where the valet parking guy steels the car) I think it's by Yellow and called The Race
3 - Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen
My God...how old are you people??
J/K - there are actually some great tunes here... but you've got to admit, quite a number of these suggestions are (how should I put this?) "Old school"...
Well, bobby, to answer your question honestly, I don't really have any one specific tune - I've got thousands that meet the needs of my mood, and my drive (I specifically mix "Drive" CDs). I even have the iplod(sic) connectors to make sure I have at least a *little* something of everything. If it's a night drive through the city, you can usually count on Vangelis' Blade Runner Soundtrack. I will also give my girl's christening track:
Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion
Enjoy.
Dave! - I was unaware they enjoyed techno in Alabama... isn't that a hanging offense? (you rebel, you)
I *love* Marc's list, BTW...
"Highway to Hell" - driving from LA to Vegas with the top down at 87 mph unless I can see 5 miles visibility in which case its - Led Zeppelin " Nobody's Fault But Mine" at 110 mph with the top down.
I've got a couple of the zepplin albums in the car.
One of my old favorites thats missing is Deep Purple.
Deep Purple, Led Zeppling and Black Sabath came out of Hertford in 1968.
I think Ed made and sang this song.

LOVE THAT WHOLE DISC!!!
My kids even like it!
I had Floyd "wish you were here" in this week....great too
Allman Bros -
Whipping Post
Midnight Riders
or
I've got the Doors too. I gotta find the Doors geatest hit I used to have on 8 track. My current disc doesn't have riders of the storm. Great song for cruising lonely forest back roads.
One foot in the Blues ....is an awesome ZZ top album to drive too.
However, Today took the 996 for a spin, threw the iPOD in the car.. loaded with 8GB of Led Zep, ZZ Top, Who, Robert Plant, Clash, Deep Purple, Rainbow... blah..blah... you get the idea, plus XM Radio and whatever is on the head units hard drive.
I never turned the volume up... was happy just listening to to the car..
But thats because I haven't driven the car In a long while. I do usually enjoy some good tunes.

Breezin by George Benson
What a fun topic! I absolutely second the vote for Red Barchetta (and stoked to see the Canadian trio FINALLY inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame!). Basically, any song that immediately causes me to grab a handful of volume qualifies, but some I'm particularly fond of include:
- Radar Love (Golden Earring)
- Animals (Nickleback - by the way, look for the MotoGP video on youtube - very, very awesome!!!)
- I Need a Lover Who Won't Drive Me Crazy (John Cougar Melloncamp)
- Beautiful Day (U2)
- Life is a Highway (Rascal Flatts)
- Runnin' on Empty (Jackson Browne)
- Sweet Emotion (Aerosmith)
i thought of so many until I saw the words " Red Barchetta" and then every instinct in me silenced and appreciated the aforementioned and stood still at attention
I'm a huge music collector so I put a really nice stereo system in my C4S a couple of years ago. But I almost never use it. The flat six sounds so much nicer! And I can be more aware of my surroundings/other idiots. I know ... I don't rawk like I used to.
My $0.02:
Anything by Stevie Ray Vaughn, with "Texas Flood" and "The Sky is Crying" being my favs
Anything by BB King or Aretha Franklin
Surf Guitar...Miserlou is what most folks know, but search for anything by the Space Cossacks and The Madeira
"Thunderstruck" by AC/DC (I was surprised no AC/DC made it in here until now)
While there's lots of classical suitable for cruising, it doesn't work in a Cabriolet! I fill this void with the sound of a Boxer engine at 5k+ rpm.
I keep in the car, at a minimum,
1. TOP GUN movie CD, All of the songs on that one are good driving songs, and...
2. Christopher Cross first CD - "Ride Like the Wind" is great for pumping up the blood - "Sailing" is excellent for top-down cruising on Date Night along the beach.
3. "The Doors Greatest Hits" (2 CD album), for long road trips.
Yes, I AM old. LOL!
Favorite song last month, Beatles "When I'm 64."
Followed by, One Foot in the Grave playing "100k and the Original IMS".
Anything by Springsteen (but "Born to Run" stands out)
Molly Hatchett - "Dreams I'm Never Gonna See"
U2 - "Where the Streets Have No Name"
Pitbull - "International Love"
GNR - "Sweet Child O' Mine"
Or,
Turn the radio off and listen to the "Porsche Concerto #996 in 6 Flat"
I was thinking the same thing, but too polite (until now) to say anything. Yeah, tastes in music vary wildly, but I think I've yet to hear anyone suggest any music I'd actually
want
to listen to. Or, for that matter, from any music actually made in this century. Even exhaust music isn't so great on the highway with the cruise control set just shy of a ticket; I can always turn the volume up with my foot and overpower the radio if I want, though
Honestly, I generally try to listen to boring news radio because my favorite music tends to make me drive a little more aggressive than I should be on public streets.
