Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

New member and first time Porsche owner here checking in. Just today I traded in my 2001 Audi A4 and 2006 Yamaha R6 for a 2000 C2. So far I'm loving the car. The car is great condition. I did notice though that the right tail light has some moisture inside of it. The dealer said that they could get me a new tail light for cost but I'm wondering if there is a simpler solution? I also noticed that the paint on the body paint colored trim piece around the shift lever is kind of peeling off so I may want to replace that in the future. Other than that the car is in awesome. I'm sure I'll be spending lots of time on this forum
Good to see it went to someone who is more interested in the car than just driving it - coming here is a great place to learn. I watched that car for a while, and have just come out of a 996. If you want to get connected I know lots of local stuff happening
Welcome
The tail light might be correctable by removing it and pulling the bulbs out to let it dry. Just leave everything open on it till it's dry. I'd try baking chocolate chip cookies with the tail light on top of the oven till its dry. Might take 3 or 4 batches of cookies but lifes tough drying out the lenses.
The shifter trim fix can be found doing a search on here. A couple of the guys have already removed and painted theirs. Sanding in part of the fix.
Looks real nice! Sure they'll be lots of fun!
The ring around the shifter is part of the shifter... I think is reasonably expensive...
but i do recall a thread not to long ago about repainting it.
EDIT: When i hit submit i see Pac996 got there first
But found it anyways...

Can't go wrong with silver. She looks great. Several mods already done to. Enjoy her.
Tim's gonna be so pissed. First post and you included pictures. Ha!
Nice looking aero and as mentioned the wheels look sharp. Welcome to the Rennlist family, you'll soon be like most....spending too much time online. How many miles?
Wow those Aero packages are something special...very nice specimen...
Re: your tailight - there may be either a small crack in the lens, or failing seal at the sockets.
I would just replace it...
Adam,
Beautiful car. I'm also planning a move from a 2001 A4, probably also to a 996 C2. I've been driving Audis for a long time, have been autocrossing on and off for almost 10 years. i just had my second track day, with NCR PCA at Lime Rock and got the bug to make a move. Maybe it was the Carrera GT in my run group
Or maybe my afternoon instructor (John D himself!) slipped something into my water bottle!
I've got another couple of track days scheduled for this year (2 days at Watkins Glen with the Audi club in August) and then I'll start looking seriously. There seems to be a good selection of stock and updated/upgraded 996s out there.
Did you look at other models? Perhaps the C4? I'm also considering looking at the 968 as a starter car...but I haven't spent any seat time in either. And the 968 doesn't jazz me the way the 996 does!
I'm looking to learn a lot from this community.

I was looking at some other cars as well. I was looking at a Cayman S (cost almost 10k more), 993 (more expensive for perhaps a less capable car?), Nissan 370z (heard it was heavy and just didn't move me as much as Porsche), Audi S4 (too similar to the car I already had). I didn't want another AWD car so I wasn't looking at the C4.
Welcome, always nice to see another taco on here..... those tailights are so easy to remove. 1 screw and its off, try a blow dryer in one of the bulb holes.
