Bob suggested I run the A/C along with it, and I'm pretty sure that didn't make a huge difference.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I get lousy results from my 2002 911's defroster. Bob suggested I run the A/C along with it, and I'm pretty sure that didn't make a huge difference. (Haven't had a chance to try it since he made the suggestion.) Is there some kind of mondo third-party defroster that, ah, blows away (sorry) the default Porsche model? Thanks much.

POST 2Original post

Is there enough airflow through the defrost vents?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the prompt answer. I don't think so, but I may not know where they are. Are they at the bottom of the interior side of the windshield? If the airflow was insufficient... what would I do?

POST 4Original post

Press the defrost button just above the "AUTO" button on the climate control panel. Maybe you need to re foam the diverter? http://www4.rcf.bnl.gov/~nieuwhzs/98...p%20Repair.pdf

POST 5Original post

And running the AC should make a big difference.

POST 6Original post

I could be wrong but a/c usually comes on with defrost on most cars.

POST 7Original post

The defroster system in the 996 is the best to its date of introduction. Just try defrosting a 70's era 911... If pressing the button isn't very rapidly defrosting your car, then something is amis. Even in rainy, humid Seattle, it works great on my cab. A heater core leak can cause issues as well as a leaky vent supply tube. I am guessing that there is something simple that needs to be attended to. It goes without saying that if you are building up excess moisture inside your car, ie. it is dripping down the glass, you probably have a water intrusion problem. I hope you can sort it out!
