I changed the female part of the seatbelt hook up with the key off and when I put the new female end in and finished, the airbag lite was on.

If your light is, you need the computer to clear it, it cost me $40 to turn off, btw, have them check for all faults while it's hooked up.

If that doesn't work, I'll check with my local Indy shop.

Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and see if it goes off.

The way to prevent the light from coming on is to disconnect the battery leads, both ends, let sit for 20 mins.

Thank you, I am installing the B&K fire extinguisher mount to the passenger seat this weekend and will try disconnecting the battery per your instructions.

BTW- to add to Kurts comments, yes the contacts on the seatbelt is a known issue, they can go bad, also, the harnessing was noted as having problems, and a replace kit was available as well.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings All-
I removed the seats out of the car for cleaning, after installing them, took it for a spin and noticed the airbag light is on. I did demate the connectors under the seats to allow for removal, but were mated back up correctly, the power to the seats appears to be fine. Is there anybody in So Cal (Anaheim area) w/ the computer module to turn the airbag light off? I hate to go to a dealer for this. Thanks for any help!
Ed
Great Question. I changed the female part of the seatbelt hook up with the key off and when I put the new female end in and finished, the airbag lite was on. It has remained on for about six months. Someone suggested to me that the new female end that I installed was bad. I then changed the old one back and the lite is still on. BTW the reason for the change was the mechanism was faulty and would not lock. How can I correct it so that the airbag light will go off?? Drives me nuts
TIA
Took it my Local Indy shop, they cleared it w/ the durometric Porsche computer, it ended up being the left and right seat belt fault( from when the seats were removed).
The way to prevent the light from coming on is to disconnect the battery leads, both ends, let sit for 20 mins. Then touch the neg to the positive (passing the batt) to bleed off any residual capacitance, the sensor are very sensitive. If your light is, you need the computer to clear it, it cost me $40 to turn off, btw, have them check for all faults while it's hooked up.

Just for anyone else looking at this thread, I had the airbag light come on and Durametric reported passenger seat belt sensor fault. Reset but fault continued. Cleaned seat belt receiver by spraying carb cleaner down into it. (wrap well with rag and be careful, overkill will damage plastics and remove color. perhaps MAF cleaner would be friendlier). Reset, and no more faults. I think contacts can get gease or whatever else falls down into the receiver on them and set off fault. Worked for me. I have seen other threads where guys just give up on this fault and cover dash light with black tape.
BTW- to add to Kurts comments, yes the contacts on the seatbelt is a known issue, they can go bad, also, the harnessing was noted as having problems, and a replace kit was available as well. My Indy shop was well awareof these situations, their recommendation for the seltbelt issues was to hardwire the circuit closed under the seatbelt, so you never have problems again (the car thinks the seltbelt is always connected)
