Pretty sure I have all necessary bracing pulled, axles pulled, swaybars pulled, disconnected all the linkage and sensors as far as I can see and indicated by the Porsche repair manual and Alldata.

Like I said, I will have parts, I will have the labor, I just don't have the time between the vacation and wasting money taking up a lift that could be used for a paying customer.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my clutch started slipping on my way to work this morning in my C4S, so I called the Porsche and ordered the clutch kit, with clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing. I also ordered new pressure plate bolts, Throwout bearing guide tube, Pilot bearing, flywheel bolts, flywheel seals, and am sending my flywheel out to be machined, and tranny will be going to the transmission shop for synchro inspection etc. I am wondering if you guys recommend looking or at doing anything back there while my transmission is out. I am already spending a few dollars on parts, and labor is free, so if there is something else I should do while the transmission is out, might as well do it. Thanks, JT

With the IMS bearing should I do it if there is no signs of wear or play just because of the IMS failure hype? Any particular recommendation for the IMS bearing? Just another one from the dealership? something aftermarket? Do I need just the bearing or should I go for the hub and whole assembly?

POST 4Original post

Do a search, Ln engineering ims. Thousands Of posts. Your in there, it wold be wise to do it. Cheap insurance.

POST 5Original post

Id just go for a factory bearing and seal kit personally.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know this is a long shot, I tried calling LN Engineering sales hot line but am guessing they are closed for the weekend or something ( what kind of business isn't open Saturday at 8PM ha ha) Does anyone know if they have any sort of Canadian Distribution? I was planning on having my car finished Monday afternoon but can possibly push it to Tuesday morning since the family and I were planning on doing a little road trip with it Tuesday afternoon and need to pack it up before we leave still. I already have the car lifted, accessories like the airbox and plastic paneling removed. Pretty sure I have all necessary bracing pulled, axles pulled, swaybars pulled, disconnected all the linkage and sensors as far as I can see and indicated by the Porsche repair manual and Alldata. Tomorrow I will head into the shop for a few hours finish dropping the tranny, throw that and the flywheel into the truck box to drop it off on my way to work monday morning, then clean and inspect everything that isn't being replaced with new parts so I can assemble everything as soon as I get the transmission and flywheel back, and new parts delivered from porsche on their 8am truck. Like I said, I will have parts, I will have the labor, I just don't have the time between the vacation and wasting money taking up a lift that could be used for a paying customer. I really cant afford to wait the time for international shipping at this point which is why I was wondering about just getting an IMS bearing kit from Porsche, I would think that they would improve on their original ****ty design. If it makes that big a difference I could take the Edge or G, but this road trip was really intended for the P-car
