There is no harm in using the PTX but why would you use it when the Shell is readily available.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I haven't had much luck finding the Mobil Lube PTX at dealers. Sunset has it but doesn't want to ship fluids... Should i continue making efforts to find the Mobil or is the Shell fine since it's Porsche approved and sold as the recommended fluid by the dealers at this point? Shawn

POST 2Original post

Are you driving a GT3? If not then you should be using the Shell to begin with.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's the first I've heard of that...here's the info I'm basing it on...

POST 4Original post

I have that doc as well. But the difference between the two is that the PTX is the ONLY one approved of the two for the GT3. Why? The LSD. The PTX is way hard to get since it only comes in 20L containers and no many dealers will stock it since there are NOT many GT3's that come in for tranny oil changes to justify the cost of stocking it. Do you need 20L? The Shell is the best and rec'd for the non-LSD cars. There is no harm in using the PTX but why would you use it when the Shell is readily available. I wish it was fine for my 3. Until then I have to get my tranny oil aftermarket.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks a lot for the explanation. It was very helpful. Shawn

POST 7Original post

IMO, the shell provides smoother shifts and work fine with the LSD, including GT3. Mobil sometimes wants the transaxle to grap unevenly.
