Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I don't own a tip but I believe the M mode kieeps the RPM up before shifting, auto just changes gears at a lower RPM.
Leading evidence: 'Replace gears at a lower rpm' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i am still not sure the diff between manual and auto.
it was quick and nice.
temp outside was about 103 deg F, the A/C seemed to struggle cooling the inside.
i am still not sure the diff between manual and auto. i drove on M most of the time and the car shifted itself, just like an auto would.
there was a small oil leakage around what seemed to be the tranny. after driving it i could smell a faint burnt oil smell. i don't think this is a big issue.
i guess manual had more gitty up than auto.
i am still not sure about buying a tip (even though I could shift it with the controls in the steering wheel).
i think a true manual would be better for playing.
the price is very good 34.8 for an 01 with only 50k miles one owner. car is in great shape.

Oil leak could be RMS - easy fix but have a PPI done first so you know.
once i pushed down on the accel pedal, the car shifted 1-2-3-4-5 by itself (i could see the little red light on the dash board), i could also up/down shift with the steering wheel switches.
it was actually pretty cool but i think true manual may the the one for me.
Were you leaving it in auto mode but using the buttons? If so then the actions you talk about are normal. When in auto mode and you push on the steering wheel buttons the system temporarily goes to manual mode. If you haven't shifted up or down after 8 seconds it returns to auto mode with low RPM shifts. If you shift to manual and just punch the throttle the car will go to redline before shifting to next gear. If looligagging around though it will shift at about 3K RPM's
My car DOES NOT SHIFT AT ALL with the exception of first to second gear upon reaching redline unless I shift it if I am in "M". That is what makes a TIP a TIP. That car must have had problems.
