I was putting oil in and I forgot to put the oil cap back on. The car was idle at 1500 rpm and there was a noticable loss of power. The car was also making a loud hissing sound...after a quick drive (15 min) I looked at the engine comparment and noticed i forgot to put the oil cap back on. The car seems to be back to normal now. Did I damage the engine in anyway?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Shouldn't be any damage. My question is how did you manage to not get a check engine light due to the oil cap being off - which would affect crankcase pressurization?
Was wondering the same thing cause other people get a check engine light if the cap is not on properly and mine wasn't even on...I had no lights on the display at all...
Maybe the UK software doesn't consider crankcase pressurization a cause for a CEL. Or you've got a failed CEL. Might be worth asking your local dealer/mechanic about it just for peace of mind.
your car is fine... don't worry about it
parkman: The "peace of mind" I was referring to for Keyvan was regarding why he didn't get a CEL with his oil cap off.
oops~ I hate CEL's.
