Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used a GPS with the old engine and it had my actual speed about 5 MPH less than what was displayed on the speedometer when traveling at higher speeds. No change in tires since changing engines.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

On my old engine 6 x 4=100 but on my new (remanufactured) engine 6 x 4=105. Does anyone on the broad have any idea what could have caused this change? When another engine is installed does the ECU have to be remapped? Could this account for the change?
6 stands for sixth gear and 4 stand for the 4 or 4000 RPMs on the gauge.
The car goes faster with the new engine in 6th gear at 4000 rpm than the old egine in 6th gear at 4000 rpm.
With the same set of wheels/tires, what you post is impossible, unless your gearing was changed.
The DME modifies the input signal to both the digital and analog speedo's, deliberately overstating your speed. What year car is it? The unmodifed speed read by the computer can be seen by activating your climate control screen to the right position.
I haven't tracked cars in probably as many years as you have probably been legaly driving, so advice of where to track won't come from me. I'll go to Limerock when I visit back east, but I'll do that as entertainment only in whatever car I happen to take back there.
Wait! I'll answer the previous question I asked. I did! Sorry for the error, as I look at the Porsche manual for my 1999 996 which is titled 1998 Carrera.
I think you implied it, given that 99.999% of the time when someone states the year of car they have, they are referring to the model year as opposed to the purchase year or even build year. Anyway, so it is a MY04 GT3, purchased in July 2003.
Regardless...
GT3
It wasn't one of the first, but I believe one of the first 200 or so. One of 3 at 2 local dealers at that time if I recall. An since the day I got it home, it has not had any oil but 15W50 in it.
Yea its strange; with my old engine in 6th gear and RMP needle straight up 4000 the digital Speedometer would be at 100 MPH now in 6th gear and RMP at 4000 the speedometer displays 105. I figured it must be a programming thing. The car is a 99 C2.

Its not a big deal. I need to get my hands on another GPS and do another test. Is there a simple inexpensive way to get the speedometer properly calibrated?
Thanks for the responses
Since you have a 99, you can do the following to see the correct (well, at least the uncorrected) speed in KPH:
Press and hold in the recirculate and the top (arrow up) buttons on the right side of the panel for a few seconds. The left screen will change. Using the + key below that screen, advance so the display reads 20c. Then press the center vent button once. The display will show you your speed. Return to normal screen by pressing AUTO.
I am going from memory which screen it is, but I recall that it is 20c. If not, one of the 30 is the correct one.
