Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've decided to update my 996 narrow body rear bumper with the turbo version. Has anyone done this? I'm wondering if I should just buy one of those on ebay that are already made to fit, or just buy a genuine and get it worked on??....I'm sure it's been covered before, but I can't seem to do a search ....any avdvice will be appreciated. thanks

POST 2Original post

I think Newport996 has the turbo bumper. PM him for the shop that did the work. Since you are in Pasadena, I think the shop he used is just down the 10 to Culver City.

POST 3Original post

I had an oe TT rear modded and installed on my car. It's not that difficult, seeing as you're in Cali., I suggest contacting the shop that did Newports. From what I've read the replca's that are made to fit the NB car don't fit very well and require a lot of modding. Better to go with the oe. Stan

POST 4Original post

newport has the OEM one..... he has a shop that does a lot of these from what he tells me.... looks fantastic....... but it does require them to cut the original giving that the original is wider then our narrow body........ Has anyone ever done a REAR WIDE BODY CONVERSION? i think the wide body look is sexy as hell........

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks, will look into it. I will have to agree, those wide bodies are dammmmn hot..

POST 6Original post

Yes...as said I have the OEM TT bumper now...I HAD the fiberglass aftermarket TT "LOOK" bumper before...The OEM bumper is much nicer and looks and fits far better....Culver City Customs has done a TON of them....call Raj at [phone removed]....mine came out to be cheaper than a aftermarket bumper....

POST 7Original post

WOW so nice, ...one day I will make this convertion both front and rear "Turbo-look" a-la Newport996. Great looking car!

POST 8Original post

That's like a great pair of jeans on a hot girl with a skinny ***. You need more booty (and by that, I really mean a wide body car!)

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Newport.....that is one bad *** 996, love it. I will get in touch with Raj.

POST 10Original post

tell him John sent ya....he'll take care of ya...they are a great place. and do AMAZING work....

POST 11Original post

YES....my shop has done lots of them....Here is one they did....I think its a + 4 inch rear...2 inches wider than a TT or C4S....thay can also do the standart TT or C4S rear as well.....This one is a 99 with a supercharger...I think its got 13" rears....

POST 14Original post

That is ridiculous. Gotta love it! Is there any way to upgrade the rear bumper on a narrow body with a turbo type?

POST 15Original post

Yes...look at my post above with the black C4 Cab...its a narrow body with a modified TT bumper....

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Newport, when you updated your car, did you repaint the whole car? if so hows the quality of the paint from raj?....I'm thinking I will repaint the whole thing- just to get a new paint job

POST 17Original post

I didnt repaint the entire car....but because it was sideswiped, 75% of the car has been redone....The paint from Raj is excellent....just tell him what you want...

POST 18Original post

The 25% he didn't paint would be the rag top, right? Just kidding!

POST 19Original post

LOL..actually its the top boot, and maybe one rear quarter and the rear spoiler...I thing thats about it....everything else got painted....
