Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I just painted my 996 from Arctic Silver to Titanium Silver.

POST 2Original post

The Titanium Silver looks nice -- very classy color!

POST 3Original post

Looks Great! What prompted the change. Was it wrecked. Or did you just crave a color change?

POST 4Original post

Looks more "modern" - you just took three years of your car.

POST 5Original post

what's the difference between titanium silver and seal grey... kind of looks the same (probably the light...)

POST 7Original post

Titanium....if it's the BMW Titanium, it is lighter than Arctic.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for your kind comments. As a matter of fact, I also coloured my hair to look 13 years younger !! I was told it's the Carrera GT Titanium Silver, it's darker than the Arctic Silver. You can see from the pic that it's a very light shade of blue. I think the seal gray didn't have the blue shade. I removed the urgly looking reverse sensors & add the C4S tips which I bid on ebay (send it for mirror finish polishing).

POST 10Original post

I like it. Especially the "*****" it took to make the change. I presume you did it right and now have the car you know, in the color you want.

POST 12Original post

The rear definitely looks better. Its kinda weird, almost feels like a photoshop. Looks good!

POST 13Original post

Nice change! Did it require to modificate those rear c4s tips or was it kinda bolt on?

POST 14Original post

thats a nice color but I don't see the blue more like grey. did you look at Polar Silver, that's more blue I think.

POST 15Original post

It looks better without the "bullet holes" on the rear bumper. Nice job!

POST 17Original post

I always thought the "Park Assist" on a Porsche was about the most useless option they offered. Especially on a Boxster. Those sensors in back really ruin the clean lines of the bumper. Good job! -Charles

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks again for the kind comments. It's not a direct bolt on for the 4S tips, it require some gas cutting & welding by the exhaust shop.

POST 19Original post

did you have the under hood and trunk and door jambs done as well? What does a complete paint job cost there? looks nice in the pics, glad you're happy!

POST 20Original post

nice paint! i heard car tax over there is a killer, isn't it?

POST 21Original post

looks really nice..... i also liked the upgraded tips.... makes a huge difference in the look...... if you don't me asking how much did something like this go for? i have an artic silver and might like something different.... maybe OB

POST 22Original post

That was VERY funny Jack. I laughed out loud. Nice job.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I'll get some pic tomorrow (it's 4.30am here now). This painter is the best you can find in the region. He use only glasurit paint which is originally use for all top end cars like Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo & Rolls Royce. It would cost about US$3.5K for a complete spray paint with color change. You can get lower grade paint job for much lesser $$, but I won't save the money on a 996. Well, about US$2,700 a year, add 10% each year for cars over 10 years up to 50%. The road tax on my previous 1986 930 was US$4K a year !!!

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Firstly Acrtic Silver was not my choice, secondly, the paint on the car was getting dull & thirdly, I was offered a great deal by the painter.

POST 25Original post

I miss the Char Kway Teow. P cars are rediculously expensive in Singapore. My Friend paid close to $300,000 Sing for a Boxster and no where to drive fast.

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tell me about it, I was caught speeding at 86mph at the expressway, charge in court with a total fine of US$700 & almost got my licence suspended !! But we could drive in Malaysia at over 150mph & the traffic police cannot catch us cause their cameras & cars are too slow..... hahaaa. Yes, here's some pics. Car is like brand new now !

POST 27Original post

WOW, they kept the option code sticker, good job. Must cost you a bomb in Sing to do such a paint job. Then again maybe not since labour is cheap over there. A friend of mine has his car hand wash 5 days a week for $40 a month. YES $40 a month he pays a guy to come to his parking lot and washes his car 5 times a week. Is a different world over there.
