Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Tough to say, but here's a thought. A high percentage of 996 Cabs in the US are Cabs. Secondly I believe the 996 Cab came out same time as the coupe. So logic would dictate that the Cab will arrive along with the coupe.
But that's logic, and we're dealing with Porsche and they're not always compatible!
Hmmm - so should I delay and wait for a 997 Cab ?
We have a 996 Cab due for an October 2003 build - but no final date as yet - so not even sure if it can be delayed !
Nor if it's worth it - maybe just get the 996 and enjoy it now :-)

Hi Don,
the introduction of the 996 was like this:
996 Carrera Coupe: Frankfurt September 1997
996 Carrera Cabriolet: Geneva March 1998
996 Carrera 4 Coupe and Cabriolet: Paris October 1998
I have already seen plenty of 997 Coupes, Cabriolets and lately (last 6 months) also Turbos drive around, so they seem to be pretty much ready. However, for production reasons I would guess that they would stagger the introduction of the respective models by about 6-12 months.
Cheers,
Uwe
Uwe... these 997s that you have seen running around..can you take any pics? Are they undisquised? If they were undisquised, then pls take some pics.
Re your comments about the introduction. I was talking about US sales. I thought the Coupe and Cab came out the same time in the US, followed some time later by the Targa, Turbo, GT2, etc.
If the 997 is merely a "sexed up" 996 w/upgraded engine, new fenders, head and tail lights, and new bumper covers there's no reason for them not to be available for US sale at the same time.... IMHO
Hey Don,
I received one of the first '99 996 Cabs in my local market area. It was delivered in the fall of '98. IIRC, the coupes were delivered as early as late-spring/early-summer here.
I would guess a 4 to 6 month difference is "normal" for a sample of one.
Yeah Mike, I believe production of the 98 993s stopped like in March or April 98 so they could tool up for the 996s, and get used to the Japanese production methods.
Wanna see my lifesaver???
