The shelf for the lower binnacle - I recently installed a double DIN Avic unit on top and had to relocate climate control to the bottom and replace the stupid cassette tape bin.

work the rust out of the nuts and keep the threads clean...they will come but can be a PITA (or buy replacements and just force them till they brak off)

Tim, you'd be happy to hear that I did my first mod on the Turbo, I installed the Milltek exhaust (that I bought from my Turbo's previous owner).

The Fister Motorsports modded exhaust came in yesterday and I had them installed today (along with bigger oval tips.) The car sounds great and the new tips look blingy!

Plus I'm getting a little annoyed with my Bose "hi-fi" stereo and its annoying habit of malfunctioning when I rotate the right control to change the track on my CD player.

Almost forgot - and a promise to install the high output LED's I bought to replace the white city/parking lights next to my xenons when one of the stock bulb burned out.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well, just changed to snow tires, and can see the cords on the inside of my PS2 summer tires. Guess it's getting two rear tires. (The P car equivalent of getting socks for Christmas.) Hope it it not too disappointed.
I already got Red Belts and maybe some Hollow Spokes for Winter/Track (if the Price is Right)... The GF got me the Design Key and Crested Valve Stems, for my BDAY which was 2 weeks ago
!ROFL!
Tim, you'd be happy to hear that I did my first mod on the Turbo, I installed the Milltek exhaust (that I bought from my Turbo's previous owner).
Of course, what does she do afterward? She throws a fit and barks about the oil pressure sender!
///Michael
ha, yeah my eyes are going, too.
Mine has a short-shifter on the wish list.....
I'd love to get a bunch of things for her, but I'm secretly saving for a Turbo...maybe by next Christmas.....
I thought about it... my gut feeling tells me I should go with the straight dual exhaust.
I researched it, and FVD and fabspeed use the same cats.... evoms documented that their X pipe looses power than their straight cats. One concern I have with the X is.... what happens when one of the cats goes bad?

The other is a genuine Porsche snow scraper and windshield cleaner.
It is remarkably small and made of light aluminum. It is made in Germany:

Call me crazy, but i wouldn't want an aluminum pole (even a nice Porsche version) coming anywhere near my car! Give me a plastic version with nice foam padding on it any day!
Getting a SS Kit and probably the 6-speed shift **** in Aluminium. Already had the garage door mod, the 911 Design key and other minor internal mods as a pre-Xmas gift.
Suncoast sells them.

I've thought about a set, but I just can't quite decide if I can pull it off.
A set of clear side markers and the promise of a new set of summer tires in a few months! Plus I'm getting a little annoyed with my Bose "hi-fi" stereo and its annoying habit of malfunctioning when I rotate the right control to change the track on my CD player. I imagine no one is too pleased with the stock Bose that was the "upgrade" that came with the bi-xenon package on the 2003 996?

Almost forgot - and a promise to install the high output LED's I bought to replace the white city/parking lights next to my xenons when one of the stock bulb burned out. (The promise because I'm away for Christmas and missing my car!)
Curious to see what you go with. The OD of the bulb has to be pretty small to fit through the hole in the lamp, and secondly, not sure it'd be a good idea to run the high output LED in an enclosed (albeit 'vented') enclosure. Read the fine print on the h/o LEDs....but that's another thread.

louder inside the cab? Mine are not very noticable inside... but outside they are much louder then stock... find a tunnel, a garage or go between to buildings that are close together...
beautiful music
what splitter do you have now? got a pic? and a pic of the one you want
The MKII PSE hack/or real is one of those things that after its done, you dont like the sound of any car w/o it......I imagine you now look at every shifter and see how "long" it is....
Marc, I can't believe you haven't done the MK II PSE mod yet.
Believe me, this is going to be just like the SSK you (finally
) installed. You are going to say to yourself "Self, why didn't you do this sooner?"
I see... I have thought about this but never know which one is the "right one" - I still feel my front points "up" too much...but you have to watch jacking the car from the rear as to not drive the nose iinto the ground....
My car is getting a rest for XMAS.
Oh yeah, and it got a little brother who will be taking all the abuse from now on. It has been on a pretty aggressive diet since it came home.

I gotta tell you guys, I listened to a bunch of clips and watched several videos on YouTube of Darin's exhaust mods and none of them do the exhaust justice. I was pleasantly surprised how good they sound in person -- they sound nothing like the clips! I highly recommend them!
replacement of the clear bra that has yellowed on my white 996. Removal of the bra took some paint with it, so the bumper needs to be resprayed, and new decals put on. It is in the shop as we write.
Fabspeed mufflers just arrived last night. Clear sidemarkers and spark plugs on the way. Hopefully the plugs arrive today so I can put the Fabspeed on tomorrow!
How long do you think it will take to remove OEM exhaust, and replace with Fabspeed mufflers? Are you doing the swap or an Indy? Curious to know for my DFister mod due shortly, thanks.
Muffler swap for the Fisters should take you only an hour or 2 if you have never done it. I have done it a few times and have it down much faster.
hard parts include the damn clamps...and any rust on the bolts that are on them - spray liberally with pernatrating oil a couple times the night before....
work rusted bolts back forth, dont force them.. use more oil.. work the rust out of the nuts and keep the threads clean...they will come but can be a PITA (or buy replacements and just force them till they brak off)
same with the tip "ring clamp" then opening that one can be tricky - use 2 screwdrivers and put one in each hole, pull apart but snot so far as to distort the clamping ring
Thanks for the info Ed. Already srayed bolts with WD40 and looked at some prior posts locating which bolts for mufflers and tips.By the way, is your 911 still for sale?
^^ For me the biggest PITA was trying to slip the cans back in. It was like a puzzle game. Of course I did't remove the bumper.
Good luck. You will LOVE the sound!!
YW - Yes, it woould be good but unlikely for me to sell it. I am still buying parts for additional changes I want, but at the end of the day, it is still on the market
BTW I didnt remove the bumer either... just get the a$$ up pretty darn high and dont leave a jack sitting in the middle of the car
i got them from a guy that just upgraded to a 997tt and wanted to get rid of them, i got them for an absolute steal
now i just have to wait until march when my car comes out of storage to get them put on...i'm very impatient, this sucks ! i'm also getting the turbos upgraded and some other stuff so that makes the wait even harder
You have it in actual storage, like a remote storage facility?
Are you completely snowed-in?
Man, I'd have those on in a heartbeat just to stare at the car in the garage.
My Sally has been a good girl, so she's getting a set of Sparco Pro 2000 for driver & passenger, 6 point harnesses, Tequipment 997 rollbar, custom cat & muffler bypass (my Fabspeeds will be for sale if anyone's interested), & who knows what else (probably fire extinguisher, tow hooks, etc.)
The car got it's present already. It spent half a day letting the Porsche dealer check it out and do an oil change right after I bought it. Happily they let me know what to watch and come in later for which was exactly why I took it there. I didn't want to spend all day tracking down who has 15w50 full synthetic oil on their shelf in town and had to make them happy. Pretty primative in Hawaii
Best thing was they had a new oil drain plug in stock since the last guy butchered the plug.
