Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'braking' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'braking' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace tail light of my v-rod' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Several years ago I replaced the tail light of my V-Rod with an extra bright LED tail light as an extra bit of protection against getting rear ended.

So I decided to run with my headlights on today - and voila, no more cut offs.

Don't know about you guys but on my 25 mins commute to work, I would say I used to get cut off by someone literally running right into my lane about 5X along the way.

My fave is when they use their signal they think it's ok to cut you off.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Don't know about you guys but on my 25 mins commute to work, I would say I used to get cut off by someone literally running right into my lane about 5X along the way. I used to think they were just being jerks against P cars, and then today I decided - hey, maybe they can't see me.
Almost every single time, it's a SUV. So I decided to run with my headlights on today - and voila, no more cut offs.
I think the car is so much lower to the ground and lower profile than most cars that the typical SUV just can't see it.
+1
I almost got rear ended a couple times over the summer while sitting in slow moving traffic. Minivans and SUVs ... either they couldn't see me down there, or (more likely) they're just not accustomed to looking for a car that close to the ground.
Several years ago I replaced the tail light of my V-Rod with an extra bright LED tail light as an extra bit of protection against getting rear ended. I'm not a big fan of the LEDs I've seen for the 996, but I'm starting to think they may not be a bad idea if they make the back end of the car easier to see.
Obviously they're not paying attention to objects in the road and headlights are catching their attention. My fave is when they use their signal they think it's ok to cut you off.
Really??? I don't think the 996 is that small and I don't experience this danger in mine. I think you need more data before making your assumption...
I do, however, think that our cars(as well as most modern sports cars) are so quick that the average driver is caught off guard by their rapid change in position which can cause dangerous situations...
Drive like you are on a motorcycle. On a bike you are uncaged and learn to read heads and anticipate traffic patterns, speed changes, on ramps, and also intersections where distracted drivers do abrupt things.
I drive fast so I avoid DRL lights or lights on because they are a good way for highway patrol to mark and clock you.
I also notice the cutoff situation. Could be small, black car that they just don't see. I also have a full size Tahoe and I see small cars so I just don't get it. The one that gets under my skin is the tailgaters....since the car is low, the grill of the other vehicle seems right on top of you. I find that the right pedal fixes it.
My problem is braking. The Carrera stops so much more quickly than other cars, you can surprise people in traffic and they about rear end you. I always keep an eye on the mirror when braking in town.
+1! It is amazing that these guys don't even look... I had an Escalade drive into my 993 because he couldn't see me. I approach driving all my cars like driving a motorcycle- I assume that they can't see me at all.
Best,
TomF
Color has a lot to do with it was well. Mine is a black metallic which is harder to see on a road in dusk/dawn than say a bright red carrera.
Also if you dont think the 911 is small, put it next to an EVO or even a Mini cooper...
