Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I disconnected the battery one time without first checking the voltage, I put it back and car wouldn't start.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect battery one time without first' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). After being disconnected for less than one hour, I reconnected the battery.

I pulled all of the fuses one at a time and reinstalled each of them after checking each with mutli-function meter.

Have you checked voltage at various points with a VOM?

I disconnected the battery on my '99 996 in order to work on the passenger door lock as I would be working in the vicinity of the pasenger door airbag.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.
Help!
I disconnected the battery on my '99 996 in order to work on the passenger door lock as I would be working in the vicinity of the pasenger door airbag. After being disconnected for less than one hour, I reconnected the battery. Now the car will not crank, nor do the windows operate. What happened? Could my computer memory have been erased? Please help. Thanks.
I doubt you erased anything. There is an order you should use when removing the battery cables. Did you disconnect one or both? If both, what order? Did you put them back in reverse order? Are your interior lights coming on? Have you checked voltage at various points with a VOM?
I disconnected the battery one time without first checking the voltage, I put it back and car wouldn't start. Turned over a couple of times, then clunkety clunk. The battery had about 10.5 V, so it was bad when I started, it just hadn't failed to start yet. You could have two problems. One does not necessarily have the same root cause as the other. Sometimes it is difficult to accept that when you have just done something. Concentrate on why it won't start first using normal trouble shooting methods. Once you figure that out, worry about the windows if they still aren't working.
I don't mind that you mhaven't posted pictures, but I'm not the best one here to help you either
Can you give us some more info?
Does anything at all happen when you turn the key (e.g. are the dash lights on?)
Do your dome lights come on?
Do your lights come on when you switch them on?
Are you SURE you re-connected the battery properly (RED to +, Black to - terminal)?
Let us know.
Problem solved. I pulled all of the fuses one at a time and reinstalled each of them after checking each with mutli-function meter. When I finished the car started right up. Thanks for your replys.
Yes, the Newbies are getting out of hand!
BTW, unofficially, the number of posts required to shuck the "Newbie" status is 500, therefore YOU are still a Newbie!
Oh wait, you're in Canada.... OK, you need 600 posts to become a non-Newbie! I am just following Porsche's philosophy. I figure if Porsche can over charge Canadians, so can we!
