Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I'm a new member of Rennlist and owner of a 996 C2 from 1998 plus a 3.2 liter from 1988. My 996 is a grey vesuvio exterior painting with a spatial grey interior, full leather and sport seats. Most of items on the dashboard (key insertion, upper central console around AC/radio, side air fans...) are in a grey plastic. I would like to get them repainted like my exterior colour (which I'm fanatic !!) and maybe also the back of my sport seats. Does anyone as already remove these items from the dashboard ? I do know want to start playing with a screwdriver without knowing how to dismount...

POST 2Original post

Welcome to Rennlist. It is a custom here in the forum for new members to post pics of their car. Vesuvio is a nice -- and rare -- color. You must post pics. As for your question, painting body parts has been done before. Contact Eric @ BumperPlugs.com. He should be able to tell you which parts can be painted or not. As far as I know (I may be wrong), you can only remove and paint the seat backs if you have the factory sports seats -- you cannot do it for the stock seats. However, I have seen aftermarket "shells" for the stock seats that you can paint. Ask Eric about the dash. As far as removing the dash pieces, check out Renntech.org. I am sure they'll have the info you need on their forum. Cheers, and post pictures!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is a basic picture of my 996. I will post other on different races and track days (as I'm member of the Club Porsche de France). I do prefer a Porsche 'in action' than 'static' !!!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It was in June last year, on a track called "Champier" near Lyon in France. During this beautiful day, we decided to go with my wife and bring both cars to this track day organized by our local Porsche center. Finally, my wife took (almost) only the Carrera 3.2 during the day, having a lot of fun with it. Therefore, I had to challenge my 996 with other similar cars !!! I would have prefer driving the "old" one as it is a real experience to drive a 3.2 liter to the limits. You will get out of the car with a strange feeling that you had a terrific fight with it. Of course, my 996 is more powerful, more easy to drive and impressive on break/accelaration phases.

POST 5Original post

Belles images! I lived in Paris for 6 months but I didn't keep a car while I was there because the Paris Metro was great and getting around by taxi was so convenient. I wish I had my cabriolet for weekend road trips though. I lived in Rome for 6 months the year before and kept a cabriolet there and I was able to drive all over France -- Cote d'Azure, Lyon, Brittany, etc. That was a great experience. Cruising down the boulevard in Cannes and Nice on a cabriolet is heaven (except for the traffic). Here is a picture for the aftermarket sport seat shells that I mentioned in my last post: They are pretty expensive for around USD $2,000 each. You might have better luck looking for used sports seats. Cheers,

POST 6Original post

Cyril....Welcome to RENNLIST! You have a beautiful car! Programmatore: Those look like factory sport seats to me...just like the one's on my Cab. My car came w/o the painted seatbacks. I removed them and had an antobody restoration shop paint them. Aftermarket seats may look the same, but these are a factory option.

POST 7Original post

Cyril: Email me anytime: this is what we do, day in, day out, all day long, on all Porsches (and others too). [email removed] Happy to help.
