Called Porsche USA and gave them the VIN, they confirmed a Canada car but said the only differences (from US) were daytime running lamps and metric, not standard, gauges.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just bought a 1999 C2 with 24000 miles/100k warranty (good till Nov 2006) and I have some questions. First, I love the car. My first Porsche, it's awesome. The car has sport seats/hi-fi/heated seats/upgraded 8-spoke wheels/sunroof delete/6-speed. Silver on black, excellent condition. Problem though. Did a CarFax on the car and found that it was originally sold from Canada. Called Porsche USA and gave them the VIN, they confirmed a Canada car but said the only differences (from US) were daytime running lamps and metric, not standard, gauges. I knew the car was US DOT approved, when I bought it I did not even realize that the Climate Control is displayed in Celsius, external temp in Celcius, and the Speedometer in KM/hr. The weird thing is that the tripomoter/odometer is in "miles" as well as a digital "MPH" gauge in the Tachometer. Any way to change the temperature readouts to degrees Farenheit??? Also, I was under the impression that all 996's have traction control. My car has no T/C button on the dash, what does that mean??? Thanks RVP
