Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Greetings!
Nothing like Rennlist to get an obsession going . . . No, not talking "i'd hit it" thread.
Thought I would post a few before and after. This has been a great place for technical assistance on everything from performance to esthetics.
Here is my innocent Orient Red 996 last summer:
First, the required, Rennlist approved side markers:
Based on your recommendations and photos, went with PSS10s and Champion RG5 wheels and PS2 tires. Wow, what a difference. FYI, ride height at fender went from 27.0F 26.5R to 25.5 F/R. Just for fun I weighed the tire/rim combinations too. FYI, stock tires were well worn. Stock(lbs) 45.6F 57.8R; RG5s 41.0F 46.8R.
I will say, it's amazing how much junk these lips pick up after driving in the rain.
Also detailed the interior and added Rennline pedals based on photos posted here. The extensions are great for heel/toe. I know it's kind of retro, but I really like the wood/leather combination that came on the car. Always wanted an old E-type Jaguar, and the lines and curves of the 996 are not a bad alternative.
And some floormats from Lloyds
Added a V1 hard wired to the dimmer wires. (tip from radardetecor.net--if you are using suction cups, try the cups from Michael's craft store. They have been on for months through hot and cold.)
Finally got up the nerve to try a random orbital polish and wax. Liked it so much I also purchased the mini-RO from Griot's. [the mini is really nice, by the way.] Went through the clay/polish/wax sequence, and really pleased. I am not good enough to get photos to show this, but you get the idea.
And, of course, last but not least, (courtesy of Bumper Plugs)
OK, break time. I don't see me adding a wing as I see my car as more of a luxury touring car than a sports car, but really considering a PSE.
Thanks all for answering all my questions along the way!!!
Oh no, you caught me!
My hack but simple garage door solution. A little velcro attachment onto the plastic of the fuse box holder--about the only non-leather surface I could find. I know, I should have wired it into a switch, but you can't see it unless taking photos like this . . .
Actually, that location seems to be ideal. It's in a spot where you won't be kicking it accidentally, it's relatively hidden (i.e. not in dash), a non-996 owner wouldn't know if it isn't supposed to be there, and it only costs $0.99 to buy the velcro!

jon I can't look at your pics too long without having my own mod fantasies.
the suspension and wheels look perfect.
Thanks again on helping me with the color - I'm loving my Orient Red more and more. I have about a 35% tint - think it looks great with the Orient!
What's next?? You can't drop a post like this a not already have some plans.
Well . . . I would really like to have a PSE installed. I do worry a little, however, about the amount of interior work that they need to do to install the dash control switch. Just concerned about minor scratches or damage during installation.
I can imagine how nice the tint looks! Worth considering even if I do live in MN.
Looks awesome. It's always amazing what wheels & suspension do for a car, the pic from the rear on its haunches ready to pounce.
That's also a great color (I've got an Audi in similar Garnet Red).
Thanks all for your comments! This is a great place for questions and suggestions as well as trouble shooting. Now, if I could just get that right-rear fog light working
Wheels really are a nice way to personalize your car. Some great options out there. After looking through tons of photos, I chose these as I thought they fit the "feel" of the car. Actually, I also think 18" did too, even though most have went 19". I just liked the looks of the 18s, especially in these wheels. (One secondary aspect of the RG5s--much easier to clean than some of my other wheels, as they are all smooth lines and no bolt heads.)
