- I had planned to use the money I received for allowing a Nigerian official to deposit a large sum of money in my banking account to fund the $14k 911!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

What do you make of this? I inquired by email over a week ago about this '99 with 58k miles for $14,900. I assumed the engine was blown. I got this message this weekend:

* Hello,
Sorry for this late reply I almost had the car sold but the buyer changed his mind last minute due financial reasons also I have been overwhelmed by the number of emails I got from interested buyers after listing the car on Yahoo! Autos and Autotrader, hundreds really! I must avoid the chit-chat as I don't have time for it so I hope I will cover here all the aspects of this purchase and answer to all the questions you might have. The car is in good running condition and comes with a clear title. There is no lien on the car, there will be no monthly payments, no take over payments, just final price. No damages, accidents or scratches of course. I am looking to sell it right away for $14,900 (shipping and title transfer fees included). There is a reason for selling it for such a low price but it's just something personal and I'm not willing to discuss it so please don't ask. The car is located at the Yahoo Shipping Center, I am in the military on duty outside the country and have nobody back home that could handle this so I had to leave it there (they will take care of the SHIPPING/PAYMENT).
If you are still interested please go to
http://autos.yahoo.com
and click the sign up link in order to register (Activate your e-mail account too) then get back to me with you user id so I can contact Yahoo and ask them to provide details about the transaction process.

Anyone ever ween a scam like this?? And don't worry, I'm not about to send a bank check. Just thought it was curious.
Yes, 100% certain it is a scam. Write him back and dmeand a phone number and a location of the car so you can have someone check it out in person. It would be fun to speak with the seller live, but I've never been able to get in contact with them via phone. You won't hear back from him.
I buy/sell motorcycles alot and see this type of scam all the time. I've gone as far as having the seller send me a bank check before (because they wanted me to send them one back for the "overpayment" difference. Check looked real, but of course wasn't. Not even worth depositing because you would get hit with a returned check fee of course.
First off this is a well known scam using the nonexistent "Yahoo Shipping Center" just google it.
I am no expert but my golden rule is. No car and papers in your hand.. no money.
The other issue is no pre-purchase inspection possible??
Autotrader has some crazy stuff on it right now. How about the 996 with a GT3 racing transmission installed. Woah, that's a "special" one.
Good luck in your search !

I found a similar "deal"... someone was trying to sell an 02 996TT for $20k.
He tells me the car is in LA but won't let me see it. He'd rather have it "shipped" to me, only 50 miles away.
Damn! - I had planned to use the money I received for allowing a Nigerian official to deposit a large sum of money in my banking account to fund the $14k 911! At least my "miracle grow upside down tomato plant" should be here any day to help dull the pain of missing out on the P-car.
If you see it on craigslist or autotrader I think they must be legit.....

Found the ad above in the autos for sale section of craigslist. I already emailed him to see what type of mileage it got so nobody make an offer while I'm negotiating on it.
