Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I meant leaking to the outside world (aka the garage floor) - I will check into this over the break.
Leading evidence: 'Check into this over the break' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check into this over the break' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
can these be removed, checked and replaced/reinstalled fairly simply...and when doing so I would imagine replacing the o'rings would be advisable.

I've started during the holiday to replace the clutch and IMS bearing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've started during the holiday to replace the clutch and IMS bearing. Well anyways I pull the 1-3 adjuster, no issues. I then pulled the crank to IMS and when it came out it was not fully extended. I touched it and it popped out, but is scored. I have email to Suncoast to see if they have one or will need to order. Have you guys ever seen this before?
Thanks
Rick

WOW - I would not reinstall that, to be scored and damaged means it is worn out and will not work correctly. Not sure the cost of replacement, but I bet its cheaper than leaving it in there and having it not do its job
Nice find, way to look at the parts!
Yes I have seen this before- all the time honestly. The other common failure is that they seize and become virtually worthless.
As people do more and more of their own work they'll encounter what we have telling everyone about first hand..
BTW- can you send me a higher res version of that pic? Its by far the most visibly "bad' one that I have seen and I'd like to share that during my next M96 engine seminar. THANKS!
something to be proud of
so Q....
can these be removed, checked and replaced/reinstalled fairly simply...and when doing so I would imagine replacing the o'rings would be advisable. ( I have a couple that seem to be slowly leaking anyhow)
Thanks for the info and "how to's"
Yes, these are removable with the engine assembled. Their disassembly is a portion of the IMSR procedure.
The O rings don't cause the bleed down/ leakage. The units have internal pressure losses that causes the chains to become slack at initial start up.
The 1-3 cylinder tensioner and the IMS to crank tensioner are pretty easy to get out, readily accessible. The 4-6 cylinder tensioner is buried at the top/right/back of the engine. YOu have to remove the AC compressor and a bracket for the power steering lines to get access to it.
Yes, I had to unbolt the A/C compressor and it is a pain to get at the back bolt. The 1-3 tensioner had a few scores on it, 4-6 had one, so I ordered all three. But I did get a bonus today... I found a snap-on 15mm socket sitting on top of my intake.
