Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Though it was replaced, it isn't all that common for it happen and it wouldn't stop me from buying it.

Also...strange that the engine is replaced with such high milage..would lead me to believe what they're saying is the truth.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello:
Im looking into joining the "ranks" was looking at this 03' Cs4 on Ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem
The motor has just been replaced and has the additional X51 package. Motor is backed by Porsche for an additional 2 years. What do you think? Is this a good car or should I continue looking? Was also thinking of buying a 1997 or 1998 993 C2s or C4s...would that be a better buy?
Adam
The 993 would keep it's value over the time you keep it. The 996 with X51 would be a very nice car. The 993 S or 4S is really slow and heavy compared to the 996 but it does really look nice.
As for that 996 C4S, Its kinda rare to see one with X51 and though it looks like it's in great shape except for the scratch on the hood. Priced ok though it does have some mileage on it.
Though it was replaced, it isn't all that common for it happen and it wouldn't stop me from buying it. It doesn't make it a lemon just because it doesn't have the original engine.
I think I will...They have an "In House" Porsche PPI that looks pretty damn good...no major problems. Also..will the new engine effect resale value in the future? I would assume a car with original engine would be nice. Also...strange that the engine is replaced with such high milage..would lead me to believe what they're saying is the truth.
The only way a porsche installed new x51 would effect resale would be to increase the price!
(That's a good deal, the guys who bought my old c4s with 64k miles sold it for 43k with the old motor and no warranty.)
so long as it was sourced by porsche, installed by a porsche dealer under warranty... i would much prefer a remanufactured motor over the original in these cars.
well..put a deposit down today. Porsche certified for 42,300. Good deal?? Im a bit worried resale value will be weak if I want to sell in the future..with the very high miles, even though it has the new X51 engine
Don't buy a Porsche going into thinking about resale value. Enjoy the car, drive it with passion and worry about selling when you cross that bridge.
Rob
well you're not approaching it very skillfully since you're buy a luxury item
seriously just go drive the snot out of it and like riad said, just enjoy it for what it is.
if you are looking for resale by a Ferrari and drive it <2,000 miles a year. That is a great deal. Resale will be fine for the same reason you are looking at it---- new motor. Like resetting the clock. Buy it and have fun.
