I had a pic of my car for a long time, then just got bored of seeing it and starting using photos that I have hanging at home.

I know this was started so that forum users can start using a picture of a Porsche in there avatar, I guess that is a new rule.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just as the question is asked. Why wouldnt you put your car in your avatar, not proud of it?
Just curious. Afterall, we are Porsche enthusiast and love to see cars.
Mine's in my sig. Incidentally, I haven't seen my car for something like 3 weeks and don't miss it one bit....
OK, that's a lie. I saw a Seal Grey 996 C4 with 18" Turbo Twists the other day and hadn't realised just how much I actually do miss the car until that point.
I love it.
I had only glanced at your avatar in the first months I was here, and it wasn't until a long time went by until I realized what the picture was actually of. Instant classic.
I got pulled over in New Mexico on the I40 a couple weeks ago, but it was dark, so I couldn't take a picture to duplicate it. Maybe I should have asked the trooper if he wanted to pose for one.
I was a $100 ticket for talking on my cell phone. No big deal.
The cop handed me the ticket and said "you have to make me work harder for these. I saw you coming a mile away."
They are haters and know that the 996 is a great evolution of the 911 but dont want to admit it. The one thing I always hated on the 996 though was the cheap plastic oil filler neck, really made the car feel Chevy-ish.
It took me 5 years just to put up an avatar at all. It'll be a few more before I have the entire car. Mine is my new hood crest, which I am very proud of.
Cause its no big deal round here. We all own them.
Plus, I am technology challenged. Only recently did I even realize you could flip the songs on the CD player by spinning the tuning **** on the radio.
Mine is my avatar and sig.
Yeah Ray, I would have asked the same thing.
But what I REALLY want to know is..... how did Phil get a pic of his car OUTSIDE of the gaarage? It MUST be Photoshopped!
I had a pic of my car for a long time, then just got bored of seeing it and starting using photos that I have hanging at home. I'm not much of a photographer and my 996 is pretty plain jane. I'm thinking Andres Serrano (artist of the infamous "**** christ") will be my next one.
Born, Please pm your avitar. I had a bad helicopter lesson today and if I email my instructor that picture, well, he might fly with me again as I really sucked today?
Thanks!!
Steve
Arnee - if you take a pic of your car with your new shoes and take it at a similar angle as the sig, I'll be happy to photoshop the new wheels into the sig Chad made you.
Mine isn't. Just get bored and put something in everyonce and a while. The latest is from a couple of week ends ago me and the dog at Solana Beach. If you're life revolves around one thing you're missing out.
Well I have been out of town for a few days and so this is a new thread.
My car is in my sig so that should make you happy. Whatever I put as my avatar is up to me and it will change from time to time.
And like rountreed...I like tattoos, next question.
Mine is still the pistol right? I have had the avatars and sigs turned off for a few months now. I read rennlist a lot at work and I did not want to draw attention. The Youtube files people have in their sigs is blocked by work.
I was pumped to get my first class 3 silencer and posted a thread on Off Topic. That Is when I took the pic. I do need to take more photos of the Boxster though. maybe I will make a sig.
I have been collecting firearms for the last 15 years or so. shooting .22 pistols are LOUD and this makes it sound like a BB gun.
Why? not sure, I guess the "neat" factor has a lot to do with it. The pistol, laser sight, silencer and tax was less than 1k. really cool plinker.
I love letting friends shoot it just like I love letting friends drive the Boxster.
The background check was about 3 months with photos and fingerprints. Here is a little known fact. The tax is only 200 bucks on a class 3 weapon. Silencer or Machine gun. I cannot afford a machine gun yet. a nice one will run you 20k. Makes the 200 bucks not seem like much!
Yeah, the porsche made more sense to buy than a Machine gun! If I ever can affort to spend 20k on a gun you can bet I will be driving a car worth at least 10x that!
Reason #1
Exotic sports cars without racing girls doesn't complete the picture.
Reason #2
Curves on my avatar, compared to the curves on the P cars, are much more exciting
Cheers
and wh y the heck would one want to have a machine gun????? Understand hunting, etc... but unless you are in Iraq or a crack dealer, don't see why you need one of them.
You obvious don't understand gun nuts. Bigger and more powerful is better. Even better if they can have lots of big and powerful things that go bang.
... some might say that they need these things to compensate for other things that might be lacking.
Some have said that an AK47 is absolutely necessary for taking down a deer, because nothing else will stop those nasty vicious creatures.
We all know that these people just fire blanks anyway.
Now think about it, what does it say about someone that has to have the biggest and most powerful guns and they drive a Porsche?
That's like asking why you need a sports car that can go 170 mph...... unless you take it to a race track or live next to the autobahn, "don't see why you need one of them".
People don't "need" lots of things, but some like them anyway. As long as they shoot them or drive them in a legally responsible manner what is the problem?
Well, speaking of guns that we don't necessarily "need", and to further the thread hijack somewhat:
Here's one of my insurance agents -
SigSauer P220 .45acp, loaded with some big fat hollow points:
This thread got way OT. anyhow, just like all of us like to drive a wonderful looking car with a great exhaust note because we can, some of us like to make a lot of noise and put a bunch of lead down range. These guys are in the local Porsche club....and on Rennlist. You are looking at over 100k worth of firearms. More in Firearms than the Cayenne Turbo in the Background!
I would like to know better - like one in my garage
My avatar is my car off the dealer site before I bought it- the only other cool thing I could put on is my wifes *** but she wont hold still for the pic
Seeeu911 - now that is cool. Pointing a gun at a camera however is not - isn't it considered a bit tasteless given recent events? Would be here in Europe, and surprised Americans don't think the same...
What does that have to do with a picture of a gun? Should no one picture a car in their avatar because of all the car deaths that occur? How about a bottle of wine in an avatar? Seems innocent enough until you read about another drunk driving death.
Unless Judd happened to shoot the 2 in Colorado today, I don't see the problem.
ps - Why do people have to drag OT topics into the car forums? If you don't like guns discuss it there.
sorry this got so OT.
For the record I was in KY all day.
Just don't blame objects for the crimes criminals commit.
Everyone can have an opinion, many people I know started out with you opinion. My wife, a friend from Belgium, France, England, and lots of HS friends. They all now enjoy shooting because I introduced it to them.
My wife packs a handgun now! we look like a couple thugs right?
This is so getting sent to OT
So much for people that like to scuba and put dive shots, or fly and put airplane shots, or ski and put ski shots, etc in their avatar.
I guess they need to go to divelist, flylist, or skilist huh?
It's not my avatar, but IMHO "charged" topics (guns, religion, politics, abortion, etc) belong in OT.
Just my 2 cts.
No worries and what do you mean real? It's just an avatar and to me it doesn't matter what you have as one, in fact it makes this place a little more entertaining not having a picture of a Porsche as it shows another side of the person other than the obvious, we are Porsche fans.
I know this was started so that forum users can start using a picture of a Porsche in there avatar, I guess that is a new rule. But does that picture have to be of the car you own or any Porsche? If I have a CGT in my avatar is that OK?
Just trying to stir the pot a little more
Both work...thanks.
Tim I had a feeling you were lurking somewhere and that my 'smiley' question would get your attention
BTW...do you still have the 'Post *****' one?
Jim, I think this is incredible. I would love to learn the facts surrounding this picture. (perhaps there are others who might too). While it is very funny, I can't believe someone either caught this in real life or was humorous/sick enough to actually pose two mice like this.!!! (hope it wasn't actually you, sorry if it was).
It was sent as a email to me. Actually there are 2 pictures so I am thinking it was probably real. Of course it came from the internet so its got to be real
