Suspected cause

Occassionally -- about once a month -- the same light unit (only one plays up) fails to light up when I turn the headlights on -- so on and off the light switch a few times and it comes on -- as said I suspect a poor contact pin and I expect that when I get the time and pull the light assembly again and look at the pins with a magnafying glass I will see the poor contact with a trace of "arcing" on it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Need help guys. I just took out my headlights for some cleaning. Then after re-installing them, the right side headlight wont work. Left side works. hi-low beam, park, fog. but the right side headlight seems like there is no power there at all. I have litronic lights btw.

POST 2Original post

Multimeter test for power. Can't see it being all the bulbs at one time. I'd figure common ground, connector on wrong or didn't connect pushing back or pins dislodge or fuse. If it is just the headlight then check the bulb. It could be blown.

POST 3Original post

Hi, mine did this when I had the light assembly out to fit HID bulbs (recomended -- very good upgrade at a low cost) and it took a few refits (in and out) to get it so that the light came on -- I assumed it was the contact pins in the big multi contact "plug" at the rear of the unit.

POST 4Original post

Put a little dielectric grease on the contacts... and on the "track" that the light slides on, too. I bet you're not getting a full "plug".
