Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, today I was removing my dash strips to paint and while trying to get the one off by the ignition, I made a couple of dents in the plastic part of the dash. Anybody had this problem and a fix? I thought of filling them with grey bondo, lightly sand and try color match it back. Any help or feedback would be great. My dash is the light gray color.

POST 2Original post

My advice, FWIW, would be to go to a top-notch detailer rather than try to figure it out yourself. They can do miracles. Last time I was at mine, they found a dent in the lower corner of the dash to the left of the steering wheel. I swear, it was gone in under five minutes, without a trace. Those guys have some mad tricks.

I'll keep that in mind! Also, I had thought about taking it to a place that does interior restoration and things like that. They probally have had these issues before to fix.

POST 4Original post

Phil - tht is a nice write up. I have one questions though. Would it be easier to install the new strip if you replaced the OEM screws with hex head screws so you could use a socket screwdriver?

Do you know of one that I should go to? Russ

POST 8Original post

You might try heating it up with a hair dryer. I've done this on another car and the dent disappeared. Good Luck

POST 9Original post

Russ...email me. Where are you located? [email removed] If you are in the Charlotte area by any chance, YES I know the guy personally, and he does some amazing work.

POST 10Original post

Actually I used a little ratcheting wrench (that's the one in the first pic) that fits screwbits from Phillips to Torx; made it quite easy to get in there. I think the little ratchet set cost me about $12 at the local Canadian Tire store.
