BTW: I have a new set of those funky and expensive A6 style wipers that no other car uses sitting in my parts shelf...Available for easily half of what they cost.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I borrowed my wifes Audi allroad today and the roads were wet in places so I quickly came to the conclusion that her wiper blades were shot. I decided to try to replace them and noticed that they are more elaborate than the ones on my C4S? I pried her blades out of the casing but could not find a proper match at the local store so i went with the big ugly rubber winter blades. I will find the right ones to snap back in the fancy Audi rigs this spring. I was walking by my car and wondered...geee? I just spent $1,100 on snow tires, I should probably get some rugged blades for my car too. Is there any new technology for winter 996 wiper blades? Any reccomendations? And while i am at it.....what other detail am I overlooking for winter driving? Bonus question: My cousin has an alload that needs some serious self leveling suspension repairs. I need a reccomendation for an independent near Hamden, CT. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! Steve

I'm sure I'll get pounced on for my lack of imagination, but I'll say it anyway: I just put fresh Porsche blades on my car. Makes a huge difference. On your question about what else you could do, I'm not fussing about it too much. But the one thing I did do was put an engine protection plate on. Probably silly, but it's not uncommon to find yourself bearing down on a chunk of ice off the mudflaps of a transport truck, and nowhere to go. Made me feel better, anyway. Bit like Wile E. Coyote whipping out that little umbrella just before the boulder falls on him...

I just saw an engine protection plate on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSC...spagenameZWDVW

Is the Audi still under warranty? When I had my A4 the dealer replaced my wipers every year free of charge while in warranty. And for winter driving ... heated seats!

POST 7Original post

+1 while our Audis were under warranty (A6 and S4) the wipers were free. BTW: I have a new set of those funky and expensive A6 style wipers that no other car uses sitting in my parts shelf...Available for easily half of what they cost.

POST 8Original post

I have Bosch Icons on all my cars. Advanced Auto parts took my data down (for sales bs I am sure too) for warranty puposes. So far, the wipers are super. Had them in freezing rain for a 3 hour round trip last weekend. Perfect. They got through the whole summer too, so they are lasting well. It is a DD car....so about 12k miles since they went on. (I put one on the rear too...) JB
