This is not a probability of success.

The most common problem is the seat belt buckles but the TSB for this problem also recommends that the grounds under the drivers seat seat also be re-made (re-soldered).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Okay, i'm pretty sure this is an old topic, i searched it and couldn't find my answer, could anyone point me in the direction of how to fix this?
I'm fairly certain my airbag is fine, but something to do with the seatbelts is the culprit.
This is a 99 996.
Thanks in advance for your help...

The airbag light can be triggered if a bag is disconnected and the ignition is turned to "ON". I have done this in the past and had to have the light shut off at the dealer, $65 later.
I had my seat-belt latch replaced in order to get mine to turn off. It came on AGAIN a year later, so I brought it to my indy and all they did was clean out the mechanism and it shut off.
Brian - this is a relatively common issue with early 996's. Usually the cause is a bad seat belt buckle, as ElTorrente said ^. Here is a link to a thread from a while back which may be of some help. Pay special attantion to post #8. I hope this helps.
Air Bag Light & Seat Belt
Good luck and let us know how you make out with the fix.
The key does not have to be "on" to trigger the airbag light.
The airbag circuit is live whenever the key is in the ignition (and the battery is connected).

Find someone with a code reader. Although the seatbelt is the common culprit - when mine went on the offending part was a sensor in my steering column.
It's a 5 minute check to read the codes...

There is a Technical Service Bulletin for this, and all the dealership/service center I've seen will do this for free even if the car is out of warranty since its a safety related item. //Unless the seatbelt receptacle/buckle was once modified for non factoryparts, I dont see an issue them fixing it for you.
