It's the smile on the face after we've cleaned our cars that matters and is the overall 'motive'

Nice job - you even cleaned the wheels in the lug nut holes.

Oh well, I guess that'll be next after I run through this high tech yellow wax

I have used both (put rejex on over zaino) and the rejex clearly increased the shine
The proper sequence is to first clean the paint with a clay bar, smooth the paint with glaze and/or swirl remover, apply Rejex and let cure, then if you want, top it with an organic wax such as Zaino.

Suggestion
The window cleaner I use makes bird droppings and bugs wipe right off the windows and my finish makes cleaning road debris off a snap, and I could go on.

I just applied
RejeX
to the entire car (even windows and rims). Thought Id share some reflections on the matter.
BTW: I lowered my car with PS6 Suspension. That's Photoshop 6!
Bugs and gunk just wipe off with a damp rag. Same with brake dust on the wheels. A 16 oz bottle lasts a long time.
Buy it on line at:
Rejex online ordering site
Guys, I get all my car care stuff (including RejeX) from Chip at Sports Car Care. Great service and the best prices on the internet!
http://www.sportscarcare.com/scc/demo.asp?bhcp=1
I've met the owner of the company and he really knows his product and really cares about his customers. Quality products and service at discount price...
Hope this helps.
Don, your mailbox is full so I'm repling here...
The car should be clean before you RejeX it, other than that there's nothing else you need to do before you apply RejeX. The instructions say you should leave the car in your garage or out of the elements for at least 12hrs to let the RejeX cure to your car.
Thanks Kirby...my mailbox is empty so I gotta check that out. Thanks for the info. I'm assuming I don't have to strip off any wax that is already on the car.
Their site says:
RejeX can be used over existing wax; however, the duration of protection will be reduced as the softer underlying wax comes off comparatively quickly.
It seems most of the synthetic waxes (Zaino, etc.) say to remove exitsing wax before applying.
check it here:
http://www.corrosionx.com/rejex.html
It says right on their site:
"
If a RejeX-treated surface needs re-painting, normal paint preparation is all thats required. Abrasive cleaners, polishes, rubbing compounds or chemical paint strippers will remove the RejeX film."
This stuff REALLY doesn't like to come off
Ok, I bought a bottle, mainly to treat my nice looking but PITA to clean sport design wheels. Standing there with rag in hand, I figured I'd do just a little corner of a red panel to see how it set up. I got a little carried away, and within 30 mins I had applied and removed RejectX from every red panel. If this holds up for 4 - 6 months, I am going to be very happy. The shine & smoothness are incredible, and the ease of application compared to wax (3 or 4 hours of moderated effort compared to half hour of almost literally wipe on, wipe off) was fantastic.
How will RejectX work out on the black bumperettes or other black molded plastic? What about on glass? Tires? I specifically kept it off the top, as I'm very satisfied with the raggtopp products. I think I would practically like to just dip the car in this stuff it is so awesome!
redcab, It works great on glass and the black moldings. Not sure about the ragtop since I don't have one.
Did you let it settle for 12hrs?
I like the product a lot, but I doubt the 4 to 6 months thing. I'm guessing more like 3 to 5 or something.
I ordered and received mine also. I may apply it this weekend. Do I need to stay off of rubber molding if I am not going to treat all of it. In other words, will it wipe off trim that I accidentally hit?
Thanks
This is the same stuff as Klasse, isn't it? I was planning on appling the Klasse Acrylic protectant this weeeknd. So far they sound like identcal products.
Bobby
C4C_Leon, May I ask why you would want to Rejex your pedals? Wouldnt that make them a bit slippery and dangerous? Only my thoughts I guess.
I must admit I have ordered 3 bottles of the stuff. Bit of a PITA to get noone stocks it in Australia and there is no distributor either. Called CorrosionX and they are shipping 3 bottles next week
Well I got mine in. My car is black so I wanted to see how it did.
The application was just like anything else. Went on smooth. The instructions say to allow it to dry to a haze and "effortlessly" wipe off. Well on a Black car it did not wipe off "effortlessly" I tried several amounts of dry or hazing times and all took a fair bit of rubbing to even out the finish.
After it was polished out nicely the car felt smooth and looked great. But the "effortless" removal is a joke on black.
Does one 16 oz. bottle will do for a car, or do I need to order two bottles to complete the car?
Does anyone know where in Europe I can find this stuff? Thanks in advance
J.Seven
J:
See the attached picture. I would say after the removal the results were great. We will see how it holds up.............
And I did not use very much so a 16oz bottle will last quite a while.
The RUF's have knobby rubber all over the pedal so no risk of slippage. I just thought to Rejex the aluminum part to make it easier to clean. After all, the pedals and the carpet are the dirtiest things inside the car. But the result I got was an uneven cloudy haze over the aluminum parts. I can only hope it will wear off in time.
Thanks Tim, I read that also. What I am wondering is how a balck car with "normal" swirl marks covered with Rejex will look VS a balck car with "normal" swirl marks covered with wax.
I found another great use for ReJex. I works great for keeping stainless steel kitchen appliances clean. I applied a coat of it to our dishwasher front, and to the range, and now fingerprints and gunk just wipe off. I also put it on the glass window in the oven to keep burnt stuff from sticking.
If Rejex is good enough for helicopter turbine exhausts, it is good enough for my dishwasher!
Yeah, I would like the answer to Adias' question as well. I bought a bottle and have yet to use it. Couldn't find any restrictions re clear bra on the instruction label. ????
I suspect that it should not be applied over the ClearBra (3M plastic), but it would be nice to hear from experienced Rejex users.
I asked about how it compares to Klasse and no one replied. I have used Klasse for years and now, that I used Rejex on my rims, I see that there is no comparison. Rejex really offers an armor-like finish that Klasse does not offer. I will continue to use Klasse to clean surfaces and such.
I am 3/4 of the way through a 3000 mile road trip in my 911. From CT to Chicago, to Nashville to Myrtle Beach(where I am posting from ATM). Avg speed on the highway was in the triple digits on long straight roads with low traffic. I had waxed with Zaino in the Fall and RejeX'd the wheels, before we left I washed the car and RejeX'd the entire car. Windows, paint, clear bra, rims.
I must have killed a million bugs so far and I am less than impressed with RejeX. Maybe this is a torture test but at the two do it your self spray booths I hit(one in Chicago one in Myrtle Beach) the brake dust does not come off any easier than before, nor do the bugs.
Maybe I needed more coats, or maybe I shouldn't have applied it on top of whatever Zaino wax was left.
Kirby, how come your car stays clean so long or do you not drive it much?
I drive mine about 3 or 4 times a week. Strange that the dirt/bugs and dust doesn't come off any easier for you? I've killed many bugs, not millions, but so far they have just wiped off with a damp rag. Did you let the car sit for 12hrs after applying RejeX? It needs to fully cure to work.
And yes, I use it over my Clear bra also.
I just don't understand the motivation behind using any product that requires my car to set after completion for 12+hrs for a product to setup.
I bought a "Perfect Shine Kit"
Wash with Sonax Shampoo & dry, (15mins)
Apply one good base coat of "Klasse All in One" (40mins)
When dry, apply 1-2 coats of P21S Carnauba Wax (60mins) or as time allows. I've even put another coat of P21S 1 wk later and the depth of shine/color of my lapis blue 03 is to die for, and it lasts.
I touch up with Sonus High Gloss Acrylic Spritz every two days as needed.
Well I usually do it after work or at night, say 6 to 7pm, by the morning the car is ready to go. Also, it's not a daily driver so it'll sit for a few days sometimes. Plus, it only take about 1/2hr to do the entire car. Like I've mentioned before I have yet to really wash the car, it's never seen a bucket of water and soap. All I do once a week is wipe it with a damp cloth or a CA Duster. Sometimes I use a detail spray.
When I can detail the car in 1/2 hour it's worth it to me.
I'm about to run out of my One Grand Blitz Wax and was looking at trying something else. The Blitz is very nice but I have to reapply monthly - looking fo rsomething that lasts a bit longer. Any suggestions besides Rejex? My car is black and I need all the help in covering up swirls so it looks like I'll just stick to a good carnuba
thanks
not to nit-pick, but how can you stand touching up the car every two days if you cannot wait 12 hours for it to dry? (just curious) I am thinking of Rejex as well. It seems to be easily applied and well worth the time. Awesome pics Itzkirb...
There are many choices. I would suggest spending some time reading the forums of
http://www.autopia.org/index.php
Almost all regular carnauba based products like your Blitz wax (and P21S) have some swirl mark hiding properties but very limited durability. The sealants, ploymers, synthetics, etc. usually have much better durability than the carnauba only based products.
That said the best products for durability usually are not the best products for hiding swirls. Products like Klasse and Zaino have exceptional durability but do nothing to hide the swirl marks. Good surface prep is necessary using a good quality polish to remove the swirl marks.
Now in between the Carnauba's and the sealants there is Mequiars new NXT wax which does have some swirl hiding properties and decent durability with relative ease in application. Another possibility would be some of the Einszett products (mixture of carnauba and synthetics for decent swirl mark coverage and very good durability). I just recently started using Einszett products. Very easy application and a reputation for very good durability (especially the Glanz Wax).
Black is the most difficult to get right (i.e. swirl free) however, when done right is almost impossible to beat in the looks department.
Thanks Brian - I remebered hearing about the new Meguiars wax but couldn't remember the specific type. I happened to be at a store and saw the Meguiars high tech yellow wax and I thought that must be it so I bought a small tub of it. Now I realize I meant to get the NXT. Oh well, I guess that'll be next after I run through this high tech yellow wax
thanks again
Easy application is one thing, spending my evening applying it so it can dry over night or on wk end days is quite another. I've got a family, golf, a business and soccer to attend to. Although, I don't have to drive me PCar daily, I use it for daily fun tasks and its taken on most wk end jaunts. So, 12 hrs is a lot to me.
Touching up with Sonus High Gloss Acrylic Spritz takes a few minutes... I don't touch up every day or two either. It depends on weather and roads driven, etc. My car is Lapis Blue. If you noticed the base I use on my car it's Klasse All-In-One, not a traditional wax or polymer sealant. It quickly polishes away oxidation and light paint contamination leaving a deep, rich shine that lasts for months. All-In-One is like clear armor for your car. It bonds to the surface like a normal carnauba car wax, however, it does not change the paint in any way. Klasse layers on top of the paint, building depth of shine and clarity for an ultra high gloss finish. All-In-One contains special cleaners and a fine polish that quickly and easily removes old wax, road film, light oxidation and minor swirl marks. Its a premium one-step product that cleans, polishes and protects with very little effort. Best of all, the finish lasts and lasts. In most cases, two applications a year will keep your car protected and looking good. Plus, Klasse does not contain silicones and it will not stain your car's vinyl and rubber. Application could not be easier, and more importantly, doesn't require 12 hrs dry time.
Since I am the "discoverer" of Rejex for use on Porsches, I thought I would weigh in with my observations.
Rejex does not need to "dry", it needs time to "cure"
From the Rejex website:
"Curing is required to allow the 'monomers' (polymer building blocks) that make up RejeX to attach themselves to the surface being treated and to polymerize (crosslink) into a water-clear, impervious film. It is very important to allow RejeX to cure 12 hours after the haze has been wiped off. If the coating is exposed to contamination such as oil, fuel, soot, water, cleaners, etc. before its cured, the contaminants will interfere with the film, preventing the RejeX film from achieving it's maximum performance."
Now the nice thing is that in most cases this stuff lasts between 6 and 9 months before it needs to be reapplied.
By simply planning ahead with the application of Rejex, doing it on an afternoon (this should take you no more than an hour, including a good wash before hand), and then let it sit overnight. By the next morning, you are ready to go.
BTW: Did you know that one of the original design goals for Rejex was to keep the turbine exhaust of Blackhawk helicopters from discoloring? With that in mind, I have given my wife's smooth top electric range-top and the oven window a coating of Rejex. Now it is much easier to get cooked on gunk off of the window and off of the range top. Rejex can also allow you to score points with your partner, especially if they have to clean the range after cooking You dinner.
Bottom line, is that:
1. Rejex is not a wax, but you can use wax or swirl remover on top of it. It does provide a very high quality surface that equals and in most cases exceeds the finest organic waxes available. If your paint has micro-scratches and swirl marks on it, you will still need to clean that up with a swirl remover such as Meguires Swirl Remover 2.0 or an equivalent. But you can do that after you have applied Rejex. (or you can do it before you apply it, it does not matter.)
2. With a little pre-planning and scheduling, the 12 hour cure time is not an issue.
3. Applying Rejex to your windshield will cut down on bug splats, and make those that do splat are very easy to remove.
4. Applying Rejex to your wheels will cut down on brake dust, and make clean up very easy.
5. Rejex is probably one of the most significant and beneficial surface coatings that you can apply to your cars surface(or range or dishwasher, or what ever else that you want to protect the surface of!)
You might want to check that statement unless you are the founder/owner of the company that makes RejeX as he is a Porsche owner. In case you didn't notice, but this picture on the RejeX website is his seal grey porsche.
I stand corrected.
I should have said that I am the original facilitator that allowed all of you gearheads to discover the benefits of Rejex, for without my initial reporting of it, we would not have been able to expand the discussion around surface coatings to include Rejex.
If the fellow that does own the rights to this product reads this board, I'd like to extend a big Thank You for a product well done!
I've emailed the company and told them how much I like their product and also sent links to this thread and others. It's been a month and nada, no response.
That's strange, when I first discovered the product via Car and Driver, I emailed him. I asked if it was ok for my seal grey Porsche and if my friend who runs a car care company could become a distributor. I got an reply a day or two later...That's how I found out he too was a seal grey owner.
does this rejex also assist in getting water to bead off windshield, ala 'rain-x'? also, does any one have experience with BOTH rejex and aqua pel?
thanks , j.
Rejex will act just like RainX in letting water slide off. This is assuming that your windshield is clean. I get the exact same effect as RainX, and bugs don't stick either.
I'm glad to see everyone is jumping on the Rejex bandwagon. The more shiny bug free Porsches the better
Kirby... My PCar with minor dusting is also still clean and shiny after 3wks and I did not use rejex. Rain slides off. The window cleaner I use makes bird droppings and bugs wipe right off the windows and my finish makes cleaning road debris off a snap, and I could go on. My base application last from 3-5months depending on general road exposure and weather conditions.
Did you strip your finish down to clean paint before applying? By using this product are you hoping for one application and eliminate multiple coats? Don't understand the "motive"
for using a product that as I understand, was designed for extreme airplane surfaces and such.
I know behind any shiny pcar we'll find a happy owner.
Titan
I don't do anything special before I apply the Rejex. When I first got the car it was detailed by the dealer then when I got home I just wiped the car down and used some detail spray to clean it. Then I applied the rejex. Since then I've haven't washed the car and just wipe down with detail spray, CA duster or a damp rag depending on the conditions. I never wash the car and rejex is the only process I do. Takes about 30minutes to do the entire car. I know the 12hr curing is a bother to you, but since I don't drive my car everyday it's not a big deal to me.
The only 'motive' I have is that it's easy to apply and seems to do a pretty good job of keeping the car clean. This last time was the first time I rejex'ed the inside of my rims and that was the final proof for me that this stuff works. 500+ miles and still no brake dust seems to stick to the inside of the rims. Granted I wipe with a damp paper towel once a week, but before rejex the brake dust build up would have been a lot more now it's minimal.
I know there are proably other product that do a similiar or better job, but in my case for the ease of use and what it does I'll stick with Rejex...for now.
It really doesn't matter what everyone uses. It's the smile on the face after we've cleaned our cars that matters and is the overall 'motive'
Applied with an applicator and now the hood appears to have swirl marks. The rest of the car looks great. Car is black so it shows everthing but this is unussual.
Did I apply incorrectly?
Also do I need any polish or glaze after?
Rejex is best applied with a soft cotton towel or diaper, and removed with the same.. A foam applicator will usually give you marks. Another cause of removal marks is not using enough pressure when removing the dried haze or waiting too long to remove the haze. You might try again with a soft cloth to polish down the marks, but a sure fire way to smooth out your finish will be to get some Meguires #9 Swirl Remover 2.0. This will completely clean up your boo-boo with the application and removal.
rejex is terrific!!
easy to apply and with super results!!
i never had the energy to zaino--too many steps!
with rejex you can even do the glass eliminating the need for rainex
i am a happy camper
thanks for the great tip!!
Ignacio
Did you do your rims also? I did the inside of my rims this last time and WOW, brake dust is kept to a minimum.
OH996, not sure you have to reapply, but it's so easy I would.
I doubt the foam applicator caused the swirl marks. I have applied many different products with foam applicators and never induced swirls. More than likely the foam applicator and/or the surface was contaminated with something was caused the swirls. Another possibility is the swirls existed prior to the application of the Rejex but were hidden by a previous application that contained fillers of some sort. When Rejex was applied it may have removed the fillers and exposed the swirls. If this is the case then Rejex probably has some type of chemical cleaning abilities like Klasse AIO. As for the cleaning properties of Rejex this is purly speculation on my part to try and determine where your swirling came from.
I would also caution against the use of diapers. Most diapers have polyester stitching holding the diaper together and also giving the quilted effect. This stitching can most definitely cause swirling in some finishes. 100% cotton (including the stitching do the burn test) and/or a microfiber towel would probably be the best removal tool.
kirby
i did the rims in both my cars
the effect was great!
really helps to keep them clean. i returned my unopened canisters of carnuba based wax.
those waxes are now clearly outmoded.
Over the weekend I drove the car 250miles on Highway 5. Typically at night you'll kill a TON of bugs...well the car has a coat of rejex on it and there were only a few bug splats on the bumper and windshield. The next morning I just wiped down the entire car with a little detail spray and it's as good as new! 20 minutes is all it took, including the rims. Now that's why I use Rejex! I never have to wash the car. Just wipe it down.
two months and still seems to be working.
Wow, that stuff looks great. I've had great success with Zaino which I have been using since 1999. If anyone wants to check it out go to
http://zainostore.com/
I admit I haven't tried REJEX but I can't imagine a polish that is greater than 99% clear. Just an alternative guys.
does anyone know how it compares to Zaino and if it can be applied over Zaino.
I have used both (put rejex on over zaino) and the rejex clearly increased the shine
You can apply ReJex over any organic wax just fine, the issue is longevity. The Rejex will bond to the wax and not the paint, so as the wax degrades off, the Rejex goes with it. The proper sequence is to first clean the paint with a clay bar, smooth the paint with glaze and/or swirl remover, apply Rejex and let cure, then if you want, top it with an organic wax such as Zaino.
hello again,
about the rejex discount for rennlist members, i've been quoting $16.09 for a 16oz bottle, plus $2 standard shipping in the lower 48. that's about 4 bucks off the price, plus about 4 bucks off the shipping (depending upon where you live). international sales will get the same price, and not much more in shipping.
but, in case you might be interested, i'd be more than happy to do $11.97 a bottle, if you order a case (12 bottles). and, if you're really wanting to keep a lot of cars clean, i have one-gallon jugs of rejex for $86.97.
call or email me if you're interested. x-auto products sells wholesale to car club members who in turn sell it their club friends. FYI, a car club can be a race organization or whatever forum gets car people together.
our website should be completely updated by the end of the week. by then, i hope the rennlist site sponsorship is a done deal.
thanks
