All right I posted a new topic, hoping someone can take a look at it, this weekend, before I send the check (Monday):

Just asked if a PPI was done before money changed hands.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's true. I put, what I thought, was a low ball offer 3 days ago, I totally forgot about and today I got an email accepting the offer! This seems like a sweet deal and shipping is paid for:

It problably won't be here for another week. Tell me what you think.
According to carfax, only 1 owner. The dealer assures me of a great car. I guess I should believe him since he has 0 negtives.

Not sure I would exactly call that a low ball offer. You offer 36K and they wanted a buy it now of 37.5? Not sure I follow. According to the seller it is a 296hp 2001. FYI.....the 01 has 300hp.
And zero negatives??? I counted something like 9 negatives.....all talking about serious misrepresentation about condition (body AND mechanical) of the cars.
Wow, I just got off the phone with the owner. Jim right? How much did he end up letting it go for? I did'nt bid on it but was tempted to (price was too much for me). I am watching another car he has right now. PM me the details of the transaction and if it went smoothly if you can. Thanks.
Vince.
Gotta love a few things the seller stated:
1. The Ferry Porsche autobiography.....please.
2. Stating "this 996" is a 993 derived look. huh?
3. Talking about the 996 as reminding us of the 911RS? Good Lord!

Maybe it's more of a fair offer than low-ball. Compared to the cars I've been looking at in S.FLA it seems like a great deal: almost a complete aero kit, nice (different) rims, no body work, 1 owner. I bought the car for $36K and free shipping. That adds up to about $2.5 off list. The best I got locally was a low optioned 43Kmiles, needed bodywork where someone tryed ripping off the headlamps, no aero and they won't budge from $36.9
the only bad point, I have to wait.
HEEEEEEE people...stop being so harsh on the guy!! It looks like a very nice P!!! and it has a lot of options......36K isn't high and isn't low.....but the car looks good....having a PPI would be a good thing, if you never have seen the P in person and driven it.
Okay Dell the seller is hyping the car a little (lot) but that is just sales talk...the problem is that he has a lot of facts wrong, because he talks to much...doesn't mean the car is bad...hopefully the car is good.
Goodluck with the wait...it will be worth it......post images when you finally get it!!!
Never implied it was bad. Just asked if a PPI was done before money changed hands. Just looking out for another 'lister. Hate to see somebody buy a car and think the seller is spotless and have no negatives yet there are plenty and all about issues with misrepresentation.
I purchased a p-car that was several hundred miles away some time ago but had a rennlister local to the car offer to check it prior to me sending the deposit. Not a bad idea in the future just to be safe. Just a thought...if this guy is a dealer in NY and he screws you...even with a dead battery ha you can make him fix it pretty easy. I feel sorry for car dealers in NY the laws are brutal.

You are saying that $36K isn't a low price for an '01 996 in good condition? The Porsche Dealers in MD are charging around $10K more for an '01 CPO 996. So $36K has the potential to be a great deal. You won't really know until a PPI is done. A PPI by a Porsche certified mechanic before purchase is essential IMO.

As far as a PPI, he gave me the number of a local dealership. He says he does PPIs on all his cars to assure the customer of a great car. Maybe a sales pitch, but I'll call today.
Armando,
Congratulations on the car - it looks great.
Please let us know how the car is when you get it. This guy has some nice listings at what look like good prices.
Armando, it doesn't. Both have the MKI front bumper, but Jammy's has the MKI skirts; whereas yours has the MKII skirts. Hence the "mismatched" kit. None of this matters, though, as long as you like it.
Congrats!
After 2 agonizing weeks I finally got her this afternoon.
Everything was a good as the salesmand said, no suprises. The only lesson learned was in shipping. It took my wife an I 2hrs cleaning all the bugs of the car. So if anyone is shipping a car make sure to get an enclosed trailer. There was also a TT on the trailer and I was trying talk the driver into trading cars, but it was a no-go.
Well, I'll stand by the rules, here's a pic in my driveway, after the washing:
Congrats! 36K is a killer deal on that car! I paid that much for my 993 last year, with 5K more miles on it. I really like your wheels and aero kit, too.
Do you think that the front bumper is a mk1 factory piece? My car is a complete factory aero 2001 car and the center section of the bumper is not open like a gt-3 bumper.
That shall be my first mod. I'm really looking at the BetterBodies wing. Does anyone know anything about it? It seems like a good deal:
$800.
Fits onto the existing decklid.
It "looks" OEM (from the pictures)
