Regarding DE and the bra, I would strongly recommend NOT using that bra at a DE.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got back from Houston w/ my new 996. I wanted a really clean car and I also wanted a good deal (I'm a deal junky). It has taken me a while but I finally found my car. Here are the details and seller photos (I will take some more and add them this weekend). 2000 996, 32K miles, purchased for $36,000 OPTIONS: Recaro Seats Short Shift Kit Cold air intake Fabspeed Exhaust 18" 5spoke wheels New Tires Xenon Headlights $6000 Alpine/JL Audio Stereo H&R Coilovers (Lowered about Upgraded Shift **** and Braker Lever Silver painted trim accents 2 yr aftermarket warranty clean ppi Thanks for everyones help... Mark

POST 3Original post

very nice!!!! congrats..crazy you can buy a sweet porsche like that for only $36k

POST 5Original post

Nice car and amazing price !!! Though, if I were you I'd take off that front bra and install a clear bra for protection ... Personally, I don't have a clear bra or anything on my car but if you're going to have a bra on a porsche, you should have a clear one. Something so beautiful shouldn't be being anything else !!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Regarding the Bra...I couldn't agree more. Those pictures were from the seller who left the bra on the car. I left it on for the drive home and then removed and stored. It may come out for DE events but thats about it. Thanks, Mark

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The car is also a little too low for daily driving. Since the coilovers are adjustable, I will probably raise it an inch. It currently sits at 25" on all 4 corners.

POST 9Original post

Congratulations and best of luck. Regarding DE and the bra, I would strongly recommend NOT using that bra at a DE. It is virtually impossible to not get dirt/grit under that bra (assuming everything is dry...wet is another story all together) and for the bra to 'flap around' at speed, scratching the clearcoat. If you prefer to not go the 3M clear bra route, I would suggest quick detailing the nose when you arrive at the DE, applying LOTS of wide 3M blue painter's tape to the nose, headlights, etc....and removing it once you're done. Looks funny, but works well and won't damage the paint.

POST 16Original post

Looks great! Great deal... thanks for removing the bra

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good point...I hadn't thought about that. Thanks for the comment. To be honest, I really don't know much about the stereo. It's alpine w/JL sub behind the back seats and a huge JL amp in the front trunk. The PO said it was a 6K system but I don't have the reciept for it (although most other reciepts were included). From what I can tell, the seats are Sport Toplines. They sell them on Rennlist https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/261797-ams-presents-recaro-seats-for-996-996tt-on-sale.html I'll try to add some pictures tonight. Thanks Mark

POST 18Original post

Great car looks fantastic on the inside especially. Enjoy.

POST 20Original post

Congrats, Love the Red, and those seats are very interesting,.

POST 21Original post

Let me know when you want to sell it! Sweet car.

POST 22Original post

Beautiful car, even better price! Did you buy it from a dealer or a private party? My P-car fund will be fully funded in October, so I am lookiing for a good place to spend it.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought it from a private party...Although I did see some deals at dealers too. I bid on one from a MB dealer who was asking $39,900 for the car and it ended up selling for $34,500 (ebay). It had about 40K miles and full leather. Looked like a nice car. I was very pissed that I didn't win it but then I found this one and quickly forgot about the other. Good luck. Mark
