Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking for feedback from anyone who has switched from 17 inch rims to 18 inch in regards to ride quality. I have 17's now and am hesitant to move to 18's because I like the ride I have now.

POST 2Original post

I had 17s on my car for about a month. 18s are not a drastic difference. They are still comfortable and look better. I can sometimes feel creases in the road a little more but overall still a good ride. If you went to 19s I think you would notice a bigger difference. IMO go for good lighter wheels rather than cheap 18s just to have 18s. Good luck. 17s 18s

POST 4Original post

Ditto - i have the turbo light weight 18's in the summer and carrera 17s for the winter, very little difference... the 18s obviously grip better, but thats due to the summer tire.

POST 5Original post

I run 17's in the winter with dedicated snow tires and 18's in the summer with high performance summer only tires. While the difference is not drastic there definitely is a difference in ride quality, with the 17's being more comfortable. Unfortunately it is impossible do determine whether the change is because of the size or because of the completely different tire types. I always enjoy the different ride of the 17's initially but, even though they provide a more compliant ride I am always ready and happy to switch back to the 18's at the end of winter.
