No it wont hurt , but what it does is bypass the Int motion sensors, as for the harness by the shifter, it is used for the incar cell phone kit, not an option for NA.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was installing a new e-brake handle when I came across these two wires under the center console. They were not hooked up to anything and the car has been fine. It just bugs me that they are there and not hooked up. The plug is up in front of the shifter. The other wire with piece attached is on the passenger side by the front of the e-brake mount. I took two picture of those wires. The plug liiks like it should be connected to another male plug of the same type, but what does it go to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Pat

POST 2Original post

Looks like the switch which should be attached to the console lid. If the lid is open and you activate your alarm you should get a "double chirp"; indicating that something is not closed properly.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There does not seem to be any spot that I see to connect it? I really do not care about this option anyway. If I leave it off will it hurt anything?

POST 4Original post

No it wont hurt , but what it does is bypass the Int motion sensors, as for the harness by the shifter, it is used for the incar cell phone kit, not an option for NA.

POST 5Original post

Hello, this should be clipped on close to the eBrake on the underside of the center console, where the compartment lock is. So, if the alarm is set and the compartment is not closed, it should give you a horn sound to remind you.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I love having this board as a resource when I have questions. Thanks, Pat

POST 7Original post

Ok look for the latch , it clips on right by the locking mechanism. you should hook it up. it will get rid of the annoying beep when you arm the car

POST 8Original post

The one with the Plug is used for a cell phone option we don't have here in the US. It's now most commonly used to hardwire a V1 radar detector.

POST 9Original post

Patric - While you had the rear center console off, did you also install a short shifter kit? If not, I recommend you do so. It is a GREAT mod that takes 2 to 2 1/2 hours, and half of that time is spent removing/re-installing the rear center console.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am thinking about getting one from B & M. I will likely install it myself if it is fairly straightforward. Getting the rear center console off again will be cake now that I have done it once. Also, thanks to Itzkirb for the tip on the V1 hardwire. I will definately use that for my detector.

POST 11Original post

I've been wondering why I get the horn blip every now and then when I lock the car. Now I know
