Just went out to start up the 996. (Daily driver, 66k, very good condition) I started and was operating it normally yesterday. The gas was low on fuel, but the computer indicated 40 miles before empty. The key cranks the engine fine although amps are a little below 12. I added gas just in case that was the issue but it still wont turn over. Any ideas?

It could be anything. Never run your tank low as you run the risk of having the pump pick up crap in the tank and clogging the filter. Check the fuel injector fuse in the footwell. Rest computer by disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes and then try again.

Thanks 1999. Tried those but to no avail. The battery is definitely cranking and I felt it fire once but not fully turnover. Not thrilled about the prospects here!

What year car? Modified in anyway? Remove any small vacuum tube and spray starter fluid in it while someone cranks the engine. If it starts, or appears closer to starting, you may have a fueling problem. Rare, but you could have a physically bad MAF. Try starting car after disconnecting MAF cable.
