Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was under the car today to install the hitch. Here is what I saw... little drop leak coming from water pump. There was only a tiny bubble of water drip, but when I looked where it came from, it is coming from higher up in the pump. So I think the bearing is failing. how long before it dies completely ? Hopefully my extended warranty can foot the bill, for one, after 3 years of ownership under warranty, not one thing has broken down so far on the car... Aside of course catalytic converter, which were excluded..of course arghhh phil

POST 2Original post

The water pump is obviously sick why do you want to wait for it to die completely and possibly fail catastrophically and ruin the engine? Get the car on a flatbed tow truck and get the car to a dealer or Indy and get it fixed ASAP.

POST 3Original post

Are you sure the pump will be covered under that warranty?

POST 5Original post

Don't wait and don't gamble. Fix it and get back to high RPM driving.

POST 6Original post

wait are you hedging your bet by putting off maintenance in hopes of getting the warranty company to pay for it

POST 7Original post

Call your warranty company and specifically ask (don't hope), if it is covered. My water pump is covered under my extended warranty. However, I am sure it would be declined for just leaking. However, they would replace it if it was broken. Then I would break it, and have it flatbedded to my Indy. Good luck!

POST 9Original post

If the bearing is going the impellers will eventually contact the housing breaking bits off and sending them into the cooling passages.

POST 12Original post

From the pic its been leaking for awhile. Can you post some cool DIY pics when you change it?
