I am thinking since the technician didnt take into consideration my plus size wheel/tire combination I have an alignment that is factory but not my desired setting for better tire wear.

Suggestion

I suggest starting with rear toe and camber set within factory specs, but on the "neutral" side (least toe, least camber).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After my last alignment, I realize that the dealership set my alignment to factory specs. I am thinking since the technician didnt take into consideration my plus size wheel/tire combination I have an alignment that is factory but not my desired setting for better tire wear. I have 235/30/19 up front and 275/30/19 on the rears. The car will not see the track so Im looking for alignment spec suggestions that would decrease the inside rear tire wear. All suggestions welcome

POST 2Original post

I suggest starting with rear toe and camber set within factory specs, but on the "neutral" side (least toe, least camber). When I purchased my car (pre-owned), it wore through inside rears like a beast. Rear alignment showed camber was within spec but toe was out. Resettting both to the neutral side of factory specs effectively doubled tire life. I don't track my car. Good luck.

POST 3Original post

Take the rear toe close to zero (0.1 toe in) and you'll see good tire life while maintaining stability. S.

POST 4Original post

The factory alignment specs have a range of allowable, I would get them to keep the alignment with in those specs but get them to hit all the minimums instead of the maximums. no sense in going outside what is recommended and loosing what makes a porsche a porche. Caster recommendations are 7.3 deg - 8.3 deg Front camber is -0.45 deg to 0.15 deg Front toe is 0 to 0.10 deg Rear camber is -1.3 to -0.5 deg Rear toe is 0 to 0.10 deg What I would suggest is front caster anything within the acceptable range is alright, Front Camber get then to hit somewhere between -0.10 and 0.00 deg Front toe ask them to hit dead on 0.0 deg. for the rear I would suggest the same to as the front 0.0 deg and try and get them to hit camber somewhere from -0.75 to -0.5 deg

POST 5Original post

Go to an alignment specialty shop in your area. We have one here that has been in business for years, started by father and now run by his son. They do all the stuff nobody else knows how to or wants to touch. Trucks that pull heavy trailers that make their front ends light and wander, race cars, kit cars, custom vehicles, lifted trucks, etc. These guys understand alignment and will make your car do what ever you want. They have done 4 wheel alignments on Porsches, Jags, trucks for me for years, perfect every time. They think outside the box and have bent the twin I beams on a Ford truck to give me what it took to make it handle when pulling a heavy boat. Less than a year ago they charged under $60 for a complete 4 wheel on my Porsche Turbo. Hopefully a place like this in your city too.
