It was the "rear wiper" mod, but didn't come off as nice as the OEM version, as evidenced by the pics.

Tim just needed a positivity boost....he needed to know that we couldn't live without him....well Tim it worked.....almost 10 pages of begging and pleading...paid memberships....etc...
Well guys, its been great, but I believe it is time for me to move on. Those of you that have been here for a few years know how much I absolutely love the 911. I was hoping I could get back into another Porsche by now but with the job situation as it is, that is just not going to happen.
I want to thank those of you who welcomed me to the Rennlist family four years ago, 4/2/05 to be exact. You made this Newbie feel very welcome here. Yes, unfortunately I was one of them once myself. <shudder> I have learned more about these wonderful cars than I ever thought I would, and much of that knowledge has come from my fellow Rennlisters.
Also, thanks for putting up with my corny jokes and my relatively poor attempts at humor. I will admit that at times I redirected (OK, high-jacked) some threads with some OT remarks, and for that I apologize. Please know that my bantering and jokes were always meant in jest and were never intended to hurt anyone, and if I stepped over the line at any time, again, I apologize. I hope that I brought a smile to a few faces over the years, because without smiles and laughter, life can get very tiresome.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Thanks for helping me make fun of my !@#$%^&* Honda. That made driving the POS a little more palatable.
I have one final request from my Rennlist friends.
Please say a prayer for my wife, my daughter, and me on May 13th of this year. That day will mark the 10th anniversary of my sons death. For those of you that dont know the story, my son, Damian died in his sleep when he was 11 years old. To this day we do not know the cause of death. As far as we knew, he was as healthy as the day was long.
He was extremely bright and intelligent, and had a perpetual smile on his face. People that knew him told me after the funeral that he had a smile that would light up a room. In fact, over 20 people used that exact phrase when remembering Damian. I had no idea that he had touched so many lives during his short time here until I saw over 300 people at his funeral. His death is such a waste of a beautiful life. He was, in my admittedly biased opinion, a remarkable little boy and we miss him dearly.
While it has been extremely difficult for my wife and me to deal with this tragedy, I think in some ways it has been even more difficult for our daughter Devyn, who is Damians twin sister. Twins have a very special bond that few of us understand or have ever experienced. What makes it even more difficult for Devyn is the fact that they were each others best friend. Devyn is now 21 years old and finishing her junior year in college. Please think of us, especially Devyn, on May 13th.
I may come back and lurk from time to time to see how everyone is doing. If our situation changes dramatically for the better and I am able to get back into a Porsche, you guys will be among the first to know. Thanks again to each and every one of you.
I hope each of you has a great life!

: I know that this is Off Topic, but I am requesting you leave this thread on the 996 Forum. If you dont feel this should stay here, then I would prefer you delete this thread rather than move it the OT Forum. I dont want the memory of my son put on the OT Forum, intermixed with all of that strange stuff.
Good bye, my friends!
May the Lord himself bless you and your family. I hope that your job situation improves so that you can grace us with a new 911 someday. But more iimportantly I wish you and your family the best.
Jay
Unreal story, Tim. We'll be praying for you and your family on the 13th and hope the job situation turns around so you can rejoin your Rennlist bretheren. We're gonna miss you in the meantime...peace.
Take care, Tim. It's been fun reading your posts over the last few years. Somebody has to keep the noobs straight!
Good luck to you. I'm sure things will turn around.
My family and I will be thinking about you and your family on May 13th.
Tim,
I been a lurker in the 996 forum for quite some time and have always enjoyed your posts - especially regarding the Honda
I can't begin to fathom how a parent could possibly deal with the loss of a child. My best to you and your family. It's obvious that you are a very strong person to continue to cope with this tragedy. I certainly hope your son is in a better place.
Regards,
Joe
WOW i am speechless...its like being hit by a train......I wish u and ur family the best...We will definately miss u.......
ps....i too ask the mods to keep this tread on this forum......
Tim, I'm terribly sorry to hear about what happened to Damian. I often wondered if something like that happened to my daughter (only child), how on earth would I even be able to handle it.
As far as leaving rennlist, it's hard for me to believe. I mean, hanging out on a Porsche forum is also about the members, not 100% about being a Porsche owner. I still hang around the BMW forum that I was on when I was driving a Bimmer. Got used to the crowd and just wanted to be around.
Are you trying to pull an early April Fool's joke on us??? Hmmmm....
Tim,
It's my only regret that I did not buy my Porsche sooner so I could get to know you better. You are truly a stand-up guy.
I hate to be selfish and say don't go, but I understand. God bless you and your family. Let me know if there is anything that I can do.
Take care,
///Michael
Tim,
My thoughts will be with you and your family.
I want to thank you for such a warm welcome to the board and honestly, your comments - and the anticipation of your comments - are one of the reasons for my frequent (constant?) visits to the forum.
I regret not knowing you longer, but I am privileged for even this short time.
Farewell friend and good luck!
Rudy
Tim, although I'm new here, I will truly miss your wittisism and your knowledge. I was just warming up to do battle of wits, once I got my car out of the hospital. I need your help.
So, please browse thru the forum and say hi.
I will take a huge step for a nubi, but, as far as I am concerned, I wilI will look forward to your return....probably with a 997.2, white, blue leather, etc.
God speed. My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Wed, May 13....
Your buddy, you just don't know it yet.
Stu
Tim,
First of all - love you man
You have been the rock of this room and of your family thru what I hope none of us will ever have to endure. You are a steller individual, a gentelman, a comedian, friend and a counsolor.
I understand it's time, but your time here will never be forgotten by us or by you. I pray the times we shared continue to bring joy to all the lives you have touched. I pray some of us will continue to touch your life in a meaningful way, and help you thru the years ahead.
Like so many will say, I am speachless, and choked up... but proud to have been here with you this last year or so. If there is anything I can help you with, you know I would.
Kindest and warmest regards
your friend - Ed
Tim, sorry to hear you're going to be pulling back from RL for a while. I wasn't aware of your loss, your family's loss. But it's clear that you've got a great close family and you must be very proud of your daughter. We'll remember Damian on May 13.
You've been the consummate 996 guy. Actually I didn't even know how to spell that word until I checked and saw this definition:
Consummate:
–adjective 4. complete or perfect; supremely skilled; superb: a consummate master of the violin.
We've all appreciated your contributions, 'cause whether you "gota" or "hada" you've been great to hava-round.
Take care and we'll be here, and around.....
Peace be with you.
-Dave
As a 911-996 newbie here, thank you for your advice and support on this forum. It has been invaluable for a newbie and it appears for everyone else as well.
As a new parent, my sincere condolences on the loss of your son. Mine is just about 16 months and I cannot even begin to comprehend what it would be like to lose him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family now and on May 13th.
Take care.
As a newbie here, sorry to hear of your tragic loss, My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Hope to hear back in the future on this board.
Tim, I wish you and your family all the best in your future endeavors. Ive enjoyed your posts immensely and please drop us a line when you can.
Good luck.
Anthony
Tim
I also thought at first you were going to pull an April 1st, but then you
mentioned Damian, and I can only wish this was all but a bad dream.
My sister also lost her son when he was barely six, and the pain is just a piercing
anguish that never goes away, in the whole family and friends.
I think
friendship
can transcend the cyberspace, because I can easily feel that
many of us here really love
yours
.
When last month I privately messaged you wanting to put a Porsche together for you,
made out of parts donated by everyone here, it's because I had no doubt whatsoever,
that we really love you here, and we could do it!
Again I apologise for such a bizarre idea, but that is how I really felt at the time:
I wanted you to enjoy your dreams and life, and I believed many of us here felt the same.
Thank you for making us laugh, and making this place so much better.
I wish you all the best, and may all your dreams and projects come true.
John
I am sure that your decision to leave is based on many good reasons and all of us here respect your decision to do so. Still, our collective feelings for you mean that we are all saddened and our daily viewings will be less fun and enlightening. Your interest and goodwill are huge and our forum is less due to your departure. You have always stepped up to help anybody who has asked, and your unfailingly good will and humor have always been a bright spot in at least my daily readings. This ability to help, tease and generally be supportive is an unusual and rare gift. We will all be poorer in spirit for its absence.
Our thoughts in my wife Rita's and My house are with you and yours on May 13. We hope that the beautiful memories that you carry with you remain sufficient and full enough to bring you through that day and to the next ones.
If you ever run through Rhode Island, please do not hesitate to call. We would be happy and honored to put you up and show you some eastern hospitalitiy while you are here!
Peace and Fair Winds.
Steven
Tim, my sympathies of course and my sincere prayers as well. I have to admit I'm saddened by your departure, as your responses were those I specifically sought out for everything you brought to them.
Selfishly, I'm going to ask you to stay, or at least check in once in a while and keep us updated. I'm going to miss you and I don't even know you!
Lastly, thank you very much for everything
The very best wishes.
Kelly
+996 on everything all ready said Tim.
Your welcome when I came on board and sometime too funny cracks cracked me up, it all kept me coming back.
All the best,
As the father of a soon to be 16 yr. old girl, even the mere thought of such a possibility brings me practically to tears. I really wish that you would stay!! I have always loved the banter!!
If you really need to go............take care!
Pete
Tim,
My very first week on RL you
gave
away a bunch of interior mods. It was a generous and welcoming gesture that I will never forget... Especially since I'm reminded of it every time I look at the sweet bezel rings! Thank you again - for the rings and your constant contributions to this magical land called Rennlist.
Who will tax the noobs about posting pics?!?!?!
Well, whatever is causing you to spend some time away from RL, know that you'll be missed and your son and family will remain in our thoughts and prayers.
-J.
Tim,
What words can be said that haven't already been expressed. My heart goes out to you and your family now and I will pray for you and your family on May 13. I'll echo the sentiment that you turned me (a lurker) in to a more active poster on this forum due to your warmth and humor.
I hope you reconsider your participation in this forum as you certainly help make it what it is today. Please don't be a stranger.
May you and your family have peace and good fortune in the days to come,
Pete
Tim, when I read your post, I was hoping it was just an April Fool's joke. But, obviously, that's not the case. No one will miss you on the board more than I will - it's nice to not only develop "board" friendships, but actually see them grow offline as well, as I think ours has. I also understand, as best as I can, the issue of losing a twin, being the father of twin boys myself. I can only imagine what that is like for both you and your wife, but even moreso for Damien's twin. I will certainly say a prayer for your family on 5/13. And, I will keep in touch. My posts may have to become more serious - no one on the board has a sense of humor to rival yours. I wish you nothing but the best. And damn it, get a great job, get another Porsche, and come back to this board - often and permanently.
I too was hoping this was an April fools joke. wow Tim... I am at a loss for words.
We are really going to miss you around here!
Who will take up the task of torturing Phil?
Tim, first of... My prayers will be with you, your family and your son... be strong as you are already wise. Being a stay home dad with 2 small boys.... I cannot fathom the anguish you and your family has gone through... I am deeply sorry.
You are one of the loyal guards here and a shining example of what an RL member is about.... We will await for your post and I agree with ArneeA.... you dont have to leave, but do understand what you must do... family of all things are the most important in life.
With all that have been said... I agree, one day.... get another P-car and best of luck with your job hunting. Again, we'll await for your posts!
I respect your decision to move on, if it makes you feel better. Hopefully you will find work and be Gotta again, instead of Hadda! Take care Tim and family, and do check back every once in a while!
Tim,
I am blessed with two wonderful sons, 20 and 23, I can't even begin to imagine ........
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I have always enjoyed your insightful comments and playful banter. If you feel you must leave, we will miss you indeed. Hopefully things will turn around and you'll be back in a "p".
All the best ....
Tim,
as a father of two beautiful teenage girls, I cannot even begin to comprehend the sorrow you and your family must feel. My heart goes out to all of you and I'm sure that things will turn around for you sooner than later.
Like others have said, I had hoped that your post was an April fool's joke, but sadly I see it isn't.
Do come around again.
Tim,
I hate to hear that you are pulling back from RL, but I understand your decision. I know that recently you have been dealt some very tough cards (job losses, moves, two mortgages to name a few).
I will keep you and you whole family in my prayers. I genuinely hope to meet you one day and I hope at the right time you'll return to this wacky little corner of the web again.
God Bless....
Ray
Tim,
In my brief and recent exchange and through this thread, I want to Thank You for being part of my life and reminding us what's important and what's "real". We have one timeline in life to follow and you never know what track you may be on or how you got there - all we can do is to appreciate and love being here and now - blessed for the past and future. Our Higher Power has us go through things for a reason. God speed!
Scott "Sky996"
No, Tim. This is unacceptable behavior on your part. I refuse to just wish you fare winds and following seas and be done with you. NOT gonna happen!
I went for 10 years, between 1979 and 1989 without a Porsche in the driveway, thinking, "No more Porsches for me. Oh, I'll get over this some day." Did that happen? NO WAY! You NEVER get over this family of Porsche friends who rely on you, respect you, and have EXPECTATIONS of your presence here. Is that selfish? No more than you just up and quitting on us.
Did we shun you when you switched from a Porsche to a Honda? NO!
Did we shun you when years passed and you STILL didn't have a Porsche. NO! Dammit, we stayed with you. We kept you in the house.
And
THIS
is what happens? This is how you treat FAMILY??????
You will play this for a while, but you WILL be back. You will come to a point where your curiosity will overcome you and you will drop back in for a peek. You will lurk a little, and then some nubie will post an obvious ENZO and you will be overcome with the NEED to reply.
Don't fight it.
Resistance is futile.
Until then, go ahead. Try to fool yourself into believing you no longer belong here. Ain't gonna happen.
Tim - if you ever end up in Colorado for any period of time, there's a P-car here w/ your name on it ready for you to drive - for as long as you wish. Godspeed, our friend.
Sorry to here about your son. I truley will miss seeing your posts in areas out of this forum - and say to my self what is he doing here! You truely will always be hear - denial is a tough thing to overcome. There are other ways to "let go". See ya when you feel better.
Tom, even though I know know you through Rennlist I'd like to say that you took away some of the negativity and seriousness in this place.
My prayers are with you and your family and I'm very to hear about your precious son, I have twin girls aged 5 and they mean the world to me.
Please don't be a stranger, although I'll be also departing rennlist myself in the next week or two...
Mick
Tim,
Sorry to see you go. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family on the 13th.
I hope the future takes a very bright turn for you. And soon. . .
Scott
Guys,
Just stopping by here to say "thank you" for the kind words and well wishes.
I am surprised, in a good way, by the collective replies. To be honest, I thought I was known more as the "likable, village idiot who makes everyone laugh" rather than for my knowledge of the 996's. I was OK with that because my sense of humor has a tendency to perpetuate that persona. Maybe I am more transparent than I realize.
Thanks again guys and take care of those beautiful machines!
Don't be a stranger, Tim! If you ever need anything, you know where to find us.
Again, thanks for the pedals...they're much appreciated and your generosity did not go unnoticed here.
Very sorry about Damien--he and the rest of your family will be in my thoughts.
Take care.
Will miss you Tim. Your humor was always top notch, and your Porsche knowledge and ability to share info and diagrams was instantaneous on this forum. Your family story is heartwrenching and certainly hits home to any of us with children. You always seem positive and happy and I only hope a business opportunity will turn 'your' way soon.Come back whenever you can. Good luck to you and your family.
Yup, I'm sad to see my buddies moving on. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I know that kids have sapped away a lot of my time, so I don't get to spend as much time here as I'd like, but I still plan on hanging out.
-W
Yeah... kids and work stress. I still stop in to see what's going on, but I don't have the time or energy to post as much right now. It's sad, I've not even had time to check out all the newbie cars that have been posted recently.
Tim,
Geez, I just got here from the Cayenne and OT forums, and now you're leaving??
From my limited exposure to your comments and advice, I can tell that you'll be missed in a big way.
I have not heard the story about your son until today - and I can tell you that my prayers are with you and your family. I can't imagine what you have been through.
I think that you should stay... but that's your decision to make.
I wish you the best of luck.
Yeah, well, we have monitored internet access, so I don't do personal surfing at work... much as I'd like to check in occasionally. I only get to login here once the kid stuff is done for the evening.
As for work - my company changed ownership today. That will make for lots of fun over the coming months.
Agree completely. No question that the RL board is a great escape and wonderful stress reliever. Many of us have been posting less often - demands of work, family, etc. I'm just so sad to see Tim move on. One of the truly terrific guys. Bright, knowlegable, and funny as hell. He'll be very much missed.
Hope all works out well with the new folks coming in. Hope the culture at R&H doesn't change dramatically, along with your work situation. Best of luck.
TIM! Say it ain't so!
You're the one who made me feel so welcome when I joined this forum, the guy who always came through whether I needed an exploded view diagram of the cooling system or a picture of a hot woman climbing a stepladder. You made it worthwhile being a member here on this forum, beyond the witty banter you always knew where to look and what to say, no matter how dumb the question was. And no matter how many times a question had been answered previously, I don't recall you posting scathing "USE THE SEARCH NEWB" remarks like many of the rest of us!
Life likes to throw us curveballs, some we hit, and some we miss, but we keep playing the game, waiting for our pitch. You may be without a 911 right now, but as fast as these things are depreciating, it will only take one or two good years to get one back in your garage! Until then, I will still find a way to bother you about Porsche stuff from time to time!
Your family is in my prayers, your daughter, your son, your wife and yourself. Be well.
Best,
Hans
while i dont post often, i do read many posts that are of interest to me. you are one of the most prominent RLer in the 996 forrum in my view and enjoy your comments. but more than prominence, your catalog of knowledge is impressive.... you have instant answers for most queries. but what struck me most is your eagerness to lend a helping hand. i know youre genuinely a nice guy. everytime i posted here asking for help, you responded within a day, prob more like few hours!
you manner is never offensive. its clear youre just trying to be funny. while the humor may be good, bad or indifferent i get it. youre never pushy or opinionated or forceful. you frame your opinion as just that, not to be taken as right or wrong, but your view. even as this forum dealt with ben, you were very calm while most expressed their views, understandably nasty and emphatic at times.
i was deeply saddened as i read about your son.... no parent should ever have to bury a child. while you and your family have been deprived of him here on earth, i bet hes bringing great joy to others in another world. as we witness all the suffering, conflict and now a friggin global recession here in our world, the other world dont sound too bad for some i bet. none of this is meant to diminish your pain and sorrow obviously....
im amazed at how im feeling now, as i write this, to a person with whom ive had maybe 5 direct exchanges with. when i get on this forum, i KNOW im gonna read one of your posts and sigh, laugh or chuckle. so you truly feel like a friend or family. and i think i speak for da familia when i say our fondness for you is a reflection of how wonderful a human being you are.
ive already said a prayer for your son. and i will do so again as you requested on 5/13 anniversary date.
i will miss you for sure. as all the responses show, you are a beloved RLer. i hope you stick around... or take a hiatus and return. im sure you have your reasons for "leaving". when you do return, and i know its a matter of WHEN, we will all collectively embrace you back into this ragtag, far reaching, 996 RL family.
i wish you and your family all the best. be well and i truly hope we cross paths again soon.
Tim, you're the only guy here with any photoshop skills - you will be missed! (I'll never forget your toilet paper roll mod...)
Seriously, the forum is about the people - not the cars or what type of oil they use.
You're a great guy in my book and have obviously lived through more than most of us - that's why we respect you and enjoy your company.
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I still remember all the help you gave me in my search for my 996 which I still have and love thanks to your guidance. You have helped to make the 996 board a great source of humor, camaraderie, and information.
Tim, it is an incredible testimony to your character that you still have a great sense of humor, after suffering such a life-altering loss. My prayers are with you and your family. You will be missed.
Tim....wow, didn't know about your son. As a father of 3 boys, the oldest being 8, I am extending to you a "man" hug. I shudder to even think about what your life was like a decade ago. You obviously were strong enough to keep your sanity. Good for you...thoughts and prayers your way.
Wishing you a fruitful future, and I hope to see you lurk here and there down the road. While I recently sold my 996 (for practical as well as financial reasons), I still rely on this place as one of my cyberhomes. I also hope to be back in a P-car soon enough. I'm still in denial about my transition, this is my first mention of it here, but it just made sense, I'm sure you know what I mean.
Your humor and constant selfless input will be missed....I especially got a kick out of your comments when I was using my older laptop with the missing "Q" button..
Stay well,
Jon
BEST WISHES TIM!!!! I wish you and your family all the best. As a father myself, I cannot begin to imagine the sorrow that you feel for your son, but rest assured that he is in a better place.
I remember very fondly your helping me with questions about my new 996(new to me) back in early 2006, and for that I will be forever grateful. Although, I also vividly remember you busting on me when my first attempts at posting pics of my car failed. You said something to the effect of Yes, I see your car very vividly, its a white 996 caught in a blizzard.
Anyway, thanks for your help and input over the years. You will be truly missed.
Tim,
i will say a prayer for damian and also wishing you the best of everything. there is no reason to "move on" from the forum. i dont believe 996 ownership is required to be here.
I don't think I can say anything in addition to everything that has been said so far. You and Dell were the first ones to welcome me when I joined the pcar family. I hope to be here welcoming you when you rejoin the Porsche ownership again.
Guys,
Thanks again for the kind words and thoughtful comments about Damian. I feel truly blessed to have been a member of the RL Family.
JD - it was not a "toilet paper" mod. That sounds too vulgar for a Porsche.
It was the "rear wiper" mod, but didn't come off as nice as the OEM version, as evidenced by the pics.
Tim,
Wow, I'm kinda speechless. I waited a day to see if this actually WAS an april fools post. Guess not.
I'd like to think that Damian was with you in the passenger seat each and every time you drove your Pcar. I'd like to think he is laughing at each and every joke you make, and each funny picture.
I don't want to get too sappy cause I feel confident we will see you here again when the time is right. How about tomorrow?
Dear Tim,
I am truely sad after reading your farewell post... I was hoping that you would hang around this forum forever even though you now drive a Honda, actually nobody cares about what you drive, more importantly we love your sense of humor and care in helping others here. I was a newbie 2.5 yrs ago and you made me feel at home immediatly and you helped me out with Mods, that was great. Even now I can still learn from your experiences. I had the opportunity to have met you in person here in Dallas, it was awesome. I sincerely wish you the best and hope to see you around here or in Dallas if you have time to go to lunch and have a fun chat together. BTW I also lost my job last week and now have officially joined the unemployed gang, it's sad but I am sure we will be fine with our perseverance and relentless tenacity
Good luck Tim and let's keep in touch OK? Please PM me anytime you want to get together for lunch as I am always looking forward to seeing you again. Take care my friend,
-Bao
You can't leave Tim.
You're probably one of the most knowledgable members here. I'm sometimes amazed at the detail of your posts.
Be strong for your wife and daughter.
I coould never begin to imagine what you have gone through. My families thoughts and prayers are with yours.
Would it help if I posted more pics????????
I feel truly blessed to have known you, AND met you in person (yes, he does exist!). All the best to you and your family. Our thoughts are with you.
And I'm sure you know RL membership does not require Porsche ownership. Stick around, or stop in whenever you can, buddy.
If you leave Tim...I will stalk you on the Honda site or any other site...and I will google your A&% and find you!!! I need someone to make fun of once in a while......
Having 2 small children and a 14 yr old step son.... I can't even imagine your pain, and wish you all the strength in the world...... they say time heals all wounds..I know that this wound will never go away you just learn to live with it!
Still if you leave this forum I WILL HUNT YOU!!! and find..don't forget I was in the Marines for 8 years....and if you want to stay more connected to this forum you can fly out to SOCAL a couple of times a year and come and wash my Porsche...I might even let you drive it ( I mean backing it in and out of the garage!!)
Sorry Tim...but life needs to be a mixture of serious and sarcasm for me to survive......
Tim so sorry about your son. I remember when you shared that story some years back when my son was just a toddler, and it touched my heart in such a way that has brought me closer to my son, and it taught me to savor every single moment I spend with him and constantly seek opportunities to do fun things together.
You are in a large part what makes the 996 forum a fun place to be in - without the cliques from other forums. We will certainly miss you around here.
Wish you the best!
Tim,
Say it ain't so..... You have made an impact on many of us and you will be dearly missed!
Don't be a stranger, and if you ever come back to the queen city, you can always drive my car.
Always enjoyed your posts. The rennlist community is losing a great friend and a staunch advocate of the Porsche breed. Peace brother, prayers forth coming.
Guys,
Just stopping to again to say "thank you" for all of the kind and thoughtful comments. You guys have always been very supportive and you have no idea how much I appreciate your kindness.
Just got back in town and I am hit with this earthquake. You and your family are in my prayers. Please visit often and I wish you guys the best of luck. Take care.
Tim I haven't been on the 996 forum lately so I come for a look to see what you've added lately and have to read your good by post. Wow did it hit hard. I'm so sorry about your son. I can't even imagine what I would do. Good luck to you and the rest of your family.
Tim,
I am also a lurker and you have helped me with my car and want to thank you. Our family will be praying for yours on the 13th. Have a blessed day!
Tim,
I'm just reading this- I was away when you posted it.
Hopefully you'll read this-
First and foremost my prayers will be with you and your family on that day. My heart goes out to you- in many ways.
I've not only enjoyed your posts, but had a great time LOL'ing at our banter back and forth- not to mention you've been a pretty kick *** defender of myself. For someone whom you've never met, but have seen me post on here, it means a lot when someone thinks so highly of you. And I would say that the feeling is mutual.
If for any reason you find yourself in Cleveland - please PLEASE look me up. Stay in touch, would you?!
You go with your Bad AZZ honda!
You'll be missed Tim. -
Chris Sanner
[email removed]
is my email mang.
Peace.
Tim - Thank you for all the laughs and knowledge you have shared. I wish you and your family, especially Devyn, all of God's blessings. I will say a prayer on Easter for Damian. Rennlist won't be the same until you return.
Bob
Hey Tim,
Sorry to learn of your leaving the Porsche world. I hope you can rejoin soon. I am even sorrier(sp?) to learn of your son's passing nearly 10 years ago. I will say a special prayer for you, your wife and your daughter. I had a health issue come up this past year myself and have not been as active on this forum as I was previously. I jumped on here tonight actually looking for something from you.
You helped me a great deal when I first got on. Thank you very much.
Peace and love to your family.
Sincerely,
Andy T
P.s. If you ever bring your wife or wife and daughter to Niagara Falls you can have my car or the bus for sightseeing at the Falls.
Guys,
I got my email notification today that my Rennlist Membership is going to expire shortly. I do not plan on renewing it, so you might want to take one last look at my "beautiful" Honda
in my Sig because it will disappear soon. Fair warning!
Well, finally the TRUTH comes out. I think you guys have been lusting after my car for over 10 months now and you can't bear to see it go away. No wonder the seat always felt sticky!
Honda ****! I guess any **** is better than no ****!
I would have love to help out.....but I just paid about 1800 bucks for a couple of repairs and now another 160 bucks for a smog test (WTF)....running on empty ...need to get a 2nd job...or maybe get of my ars and start working a little....yikes!!
I almost cried reading this. I lost my sister several years ago. She would be the same age as your daughter now. Its been pretty rough for my family and I. Its sad to see you go. So I guess your off. I will pray tonight. I wish you the best. Play your cards right and you'll be back. 8-)
I will raise to $5 (almost there!) for the Rennlist/Honda fund. Condition is that Tim does not use this towards his Honda's leaking rear main seal........
Forgot price of membership - I'll put the money out and if I get a few guys to email me a few bucks to chip in, he'll be covered for a year - enough time for him to be working again, have a great new house, and start lusting after his next Porsche. Tim, you're not leaving here as easily as you thought. But, this is as far as we go. NO - WE'RE NOT PAYING YOUR HONDA BOARD MEMBERSHIP, TOO!!
I'll contact RL membership and get this done.
Phil,
Good luck getting someone else's membership renewed. I tried for weeks and never succeeded. Tim's generosity with his time and knowledge is worth too much for us to let him go like this.
I will pay the balance to get him a 2 year membership. Pls check PM for details.
Thanks
Guys,
You guys are really making it hard for me to stay away from this place! When I posted that my membership was ending soon, it was not my intent to induce anyone, individually or collectively, to pay for my membership. It was intended to poke fun at my Honda one last time.
I am constantly amazed at the generosity and camaraderie of the people on Rennlist, especially those on the 996 Forum. You guys are truly kind, compassionate, and caring people and I feel very fortunate to have been able to share the last four years with you. You are why Rennlist is such a great forum.
Tim, you're too late. I have enough guys on the board who have volunteered their support to pay for an annual membership for you - plus enough left over to cover around 5 years of mine!!!
So, now you will have no excuse for leaving the forum! Join the Honda forum, and the deal is off!!!
For all of you who have volunteered, I'm checking out the logistics of covering someone else - the membership instructions only include paying for your own membership. I'll email or PM those who have offered to help out with this when I get the specifics back from the RL membership folks. Hold tight.
Damn, instead of mentioning that my membership was about to lapse, I should have mentioned that my $3X9,000 house in North Carolina has still not sold!
Of course I am just kidding!
You guys have convinced me to stick around!
Thanks very much to ALL of you!!!
OK, it's time to b!tch-slap some Newbies!
I'm not a man of words, so I stole some... Friendship is a term used to denote co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more people. In this sense, the term connotes a relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, and affection and respect along with a degree of rendering service to friends in times of need or crisis. Friends will welcome each other's company and exhibit loyalty towards each other, often to the point of altruism. Their tastes will usually be similar and may converge, and they will share enjoyable activities. They will also engage in mutually helping behavior, such as exchange of advice and the sharing of hardship. A friend is someone who may often demonstrate reciprocating and reflective behaviors. Yet for many, friendship is nothing more than the trust that someone or something will not harm them.

Don,
Thanks for the vid!
BY the way, who made the addition to my sig????? Marc Gelfesky, you wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you? I just noticed it tonight, because I never look at my own sig. How long has that been there?
What the...?!
I go away for a couple weeks cause I've been sick and all hell breaks loose. You can't leave. Wait...your not. Never mind. Very moving story as well.
Tim just needed a positivity boost....he needed to know that we couldn't live without him....well Tim it worked.....almost 10 pages of begging and pleading...paid memberships....etc...
I knew you were going to stay....I knew it all along!! You were not going nor are you going anywhere....you are the vain and we are the heroine.....where are the needles???
Anyways I am glad you are staying...and hope that this support made your dark days a little brighter....and I am serious you can always come over and wash my P-car (it needs it) and I will let you back it in and out of the drive way...that is if you know how to drive a TIP!!!!!!
Sorry about your son. (I've been known to have odd timing)
Hope your house sells soon.
My friend had to relocate from Charlotte (lucky he got another job quickly) and would love to sell his house.
Charlotte is not the hot-bed of property buying.
".....Tim just needed a positivity boost....he needed to know that we couldn't live without him....well Tim it worked.....almost 10 pages of begging and pleading...paid memberships....etc..."
Tim...I had to come back to the 996 forum just to see if you were still around...and I saw that you've been not-so-covertly soliciting support and empathy from those who really don't know that you're a ********. If anyone wants to PM me, I'll give you the Paul Harvey...."rest of the story"....once a ********, always.....
Then you go and buy a Honda and expect continuing empathy??
Ivagene: You have misunderstood the post. Tim and I have been shooting at each other for years and if you go back to archives you can see our running verbal gunbattles. This was actually a term of endearment (sort of)....but obviously not taken so by some. If this has offended you, I will delete the post inasmuch as I have no intention of offending anyone.
You obviously don't know Tim, or his situation, so why don't you just keep quiet? After reading your post, I have the same "empathy" for your '99 996 iris blue Porsche burning down as you have for Tim. I'd say worse, but I'd rather not be banned from the board.
Guys,
Thanks for standing up for me, but believe me when I say that you don't need to do so. Let me clarify Chuck's post.
Chuck and I have been going at each other for about 3-1/2 years now. On the surface Chuck's post does sound mean spirited, but I can assure you it is not. As hard as it will be to believe, our "battles" have all been good natured, even though they don't read that way. Over the years, on one form or another, I have 1) insulted Chuck's lineage, 2) questioned his intelligence in a not so nice way (BTW, the jury is still out on this one
) and 3) accused him of covertly setting his C2 on fire to collect the insurance. And yes, Chuck's use of the term "********" when referring to me is a term of endearment. I can only imagine what he would call me if he didn't like me!
Some of you may have seen a few of my posts where I say something like "..... and now you know why Chuck calls me a ********."
We don't "cross swords" nearly as much as we used to since he moved over to the 996 Turbo Forum after trying to convert his C2 into a mobile Bar-B-Q pit. On the surface, Chuck sounds like a ***** and acts like a *****, and while I have never met him in person, I would be willing to bet that he even looks like a *****! But deep down inside he really is a nice guy. He doesn't use the "smilies" in any of his posts (I think it may be that "intelligence" thing again) so his posts always sound harsher than his true intent. BTW - Chuck's version of this emoticon ==>
would be this == >
So the bottom line is that, while Chuck may be a *****, to me he a likable *****!
Tim: I'll have to start using emoticons I guess...especially that one with the one digit fidget.
Oh..BTW you were right on the intelligence thing...I don't know how to invoke the emoticons...
Thanks Steve, I appreciate you.... uhmm..."sticking up" for me?
BTW, where the HELL have you been??? I suppose you are going to tell me work has gotten in the way! Jeez, some people will just rub it in my face at every opportunity!
Yup, I'm still unemployed!
Hmm... my wife, my better half and the love of my life, calls me "Arrogant-***" as a term of endearment (yes, that's hyphenated)... So, I must be in the right place...
Glad to see that cleared up and that all is well.
And so glad to see you back, Tim.
Rudy
Bravo Tim....I too am Porscheless...but not forever. I won't leave this place either...I would think I'd have an easier time going cold turkey with heroin...(and no...I wouldn't know). I won't change my siggy either..at least not now.
Anyhow...welcome back "home".
J
Look, everyone that knows and loves Tim knows he's a ******** - in fact you can't claim to love him as much as we do unless you call him that at least once.
Now that we're all done crying about Tim departing, coming back, and departing again can we get back to fighting about engine detontations again.
Wayne, that's ********.... with a capital "D"... thank you very much!
Damn, now look at what that ***** Chuck has started!
Just as a point of clarification, this was the only time I mentioned I was leaving. After my beloved 996 left me, you guys assumed that I was leaving (or were trying to push me out the door) but I said I was going to hang around for a while. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.... for at least an hour!
Marc, I was thinking the same thing when I was it had moved up toward the top of page one.
Thanks to all of you and your kind and thoughtful comments, I am sticking around. I am closing this thread.
