Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Michael: No I didn't take any pictures....BUT....here comes the good part....there's a complete write up in RennTech in the 996 DIY section entitled "Adjusting the hood latch mechanism" authored by Viper that has pictures of the latch and a really good step-by-step write up on how to fix this puppy.
Leading evidence: 'Check switches' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust hood latch mechanism" authored by viper' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

i have also replaced the microswitch on the centre consol.

I tested the voltage on the microswitch and its relevant feed, and there is little (4v) or no voltage.

I actually used his write up to lube up mine so that it works like it's supposed to....but I still have the "one beep" problem that Loren chased down to the micro switch by using his PIWIS or whatever it's called.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys and gals, long time no post
Hope all are well, wanted to bounce something off you and maybe someone can shed some light on a problem i have. I have scoured the forum and checked to see for any possible solutions but unfortunatley cannot.
My 1999 996 C2 Cab, beeps once when i arm the alarm and the lights flash twice.
Sometimes that is the end of the matter, i kinda understood that the alarm was sensing an open circuit. but the alarm trips (usually at 3.00 am) and keeps going off untill it stops after i think 5 cycles.neighbours hate me.
Ihave checked the switches on the boennet, boot lid and both doors. i have also replaced the microswitch on the centre consol. this has had no effect.
I tested the voltage on the microswitch and its relevant feed, and there is little (4v) or no voltage.
Should this have a 12v feed. i now have been told that the becker stereo chassis / head unit is also conditioned for the alarm, although i have never touched this i will check this this week, but the fact that the centre consol has little or no voltage on its feed, kinda points me to this area. should the feed be loaded with 12v? and if so what circuit is the centre colsol microswitch part of. i guess i need a schematic on the vehicles electrics... thanks again guys, chat soon

looks like this is something i cannot resolve alone - - hi loren, thanks again reading the threads on the durametric software and hardware it appears its not too clever with the 996.... i feel like i am going round in circles, hehehe will investigate further and revert guys
thanks again
Loren found my fault....I get a beep at alarm set from what looks like a faulty micro switch in the front hood latch component. Another Rennlister just replaced that micro switch and reported it cost him $63!!! I went out and bought the whole shebang from a wrecked 99 for $50.
will do kolshak - -- i think i am gonna buy the diagnostic software as this could be great investment.
How did u know the micro switch was faulty chuck, mine seems ok activates the interior light in the front bonnet area voltage all ok.

I actually used his write up to lube up mine so that it works like it's supposed to....but I still have the "one beep" problem that Loren chased down to the micro switch by using his PIWIS or whatever it's called. It showed that my front latch mechanism wasn't locking...even though it was locked and works well after I pryed the latch mechanism away from the side of the housing....so it's the micro switch that's the cullprit. Porx....Mine is like yours in that the interior light works just fine, but the part of the micro switch that supposed to tell the DME that the front is locked is faulty. That little innocuous switch is an expensive little bugger. You might want to shop around with Sunset or some of the other parts houses and ask about a price on....I think the PET # is 996 613 206 00. Good luck on your venture. Chuck
