Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

While getting the 3 inch cut repaired I decided to get my headlight covers repainted to match the body paint.
Leading evidence: 'Repair i decided' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'type i'm considering' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair i decided' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

A nice mod that I have seen on the head lights though is the removal of the amber background and replaced with a clear background.

Suspected cause
It's probably the type I'm considering because I don't want to give up too much ground clearance for winter driving in the CO snow country.

Suggestion
I also have the orange factory ones (pumpkins)...the painted covers are an inexpensive alternative to changing from the orange lights to the clear ones (headlight, taillight, and side markers).

Its also before and after changing wheels and installing ROW M030 suspension.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While driving on the I10 another car launched a piece of road debris to my bumper cover. While getting the 3 inch cut repaired I decided to get my headlight covers repainted to match the body paint. Heres before and after pictures. Its also before and after changing wheels and installing ROW M030 suspension. What do yall think?
I've never been a fan of the head light covers. A nice mod that I have seen on the head lights though is the removal of the amber background and replaced with a clear background. I like the paint color and wheels though. Looks nice!! Like you say in your signature, everyone is unique and have their own style.
Enjoy your ride..
I think it looks much cleaner. What are your initial thoughts on the M030 suspension? It's probably the type I'm considering because I don't want to give up too much ground clearance for winter driving in the CO snow country.
THe headlight covers look much better than unpainted (or black). I have never seen another 996 with a pinstripe. I'm not too sure about that one. Nice color, the Pastel Yellow!
I really like the kit. The ride height wasnt lowered too much; maybe an inch or a little more after settling. The handling is better due to firmer springs and stouter sway bars. I recommend it, you wont be sorry.
Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
Headlight covers aren't for me - sorry
But the color is fantastic - is that FLY? (Ferrari Light Yellow)
New wheels plus suspension take years off the car - really sharp look
Get Eric (Bumperplugs) to do your bumperettes - would look even better!
To each their own. The color is Pastel Yellow; I never heard of FLY. It was offered for only two years; 98 & 99 according to Rennteck.org. I spent the better part of the day polishing her up. I plan on getting the painted bumperettes but at $279+ its a little on the expensive side just for paint.
Thats a thought; no covers at all. Im not sure what it would look like without them. The paint and the pinstripes are original; though Ive never been a fan of pinstripes. Thanks for the suggestions.
rleeq, I love the painted headlight covers. I think they look great. I also have the orange factory ones (pumpkins)...the painted covers are an inexpensive alternative to changing from the orange lights to the clear ones (headlight, taillight, and side markers). It makes your car look unique. I'm also a big fan of the unusual colors. The wheels also look great, especially with the car being lowered. My next big expenditure will be the ROW M030 suspension.
Congratulations on a great loooking car. I agree on the painted bumperettes....they will look nice on your car.
If you like thats all that matters. I had ambers and went the clear route, but considered the covers..... I do love the color, but would lose the stripe...... Cheers...
I have covers too...just totally love them...but imho yhe stripe is a distraction to her lines...get rims that will give you the zing you want...great color
Nice Porsche...but I am also not a fan of the covers and yes the pinstripe as to go. The body lines of a Porsche does not need a guide and the stripe actually takes away from the lines IMHO.
There is one line on the Porsche that stands out more for me and that is the door. With the way it curves at the back and swoops down towards the front is so elegant, it is so much better than the retangular doors you see on every other car.
But back to your car. Enjoy it and get ready for mods
BTW you can get bumperettes done cheaper, but with cheaper there is less quality... There is a guy on ebay. who has painted other things for me (I have had great results) for about $100 bucks with an initial core charge, that is returned when you send your stock bumperettes.....
To each his own, but every time I see headlight covers on a 911, I can't stop my brain from reminding me that someone took the double-sided tape off a piece of plastic and thought it a good idea to apply to a P-car headlamp.
IOW, they never "fool" my eyes and at that point it just seems like something you'd see a young kid do to his Pontiac.
Sorry...don't mean to be so harsh...just couldn't come up with a nicer way to put it.
I tend to agree and to be honest if I hadn't bought my car with them on I would probably never done it, but in reality I actually like it that way now that I've seen it in person - so do most others that have seen my car in person.
To be honest I never gave the pinstripes much thought. I wouldnt have ordered the car with it. Im a little concerned about there being other strips if I removed the black ones, though.
