When my local dealer inspected the car for me, they advised me that the fronts were aftermarket pads on not new rotors, causing the noise.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, As some of you know, I bought a CPO car from Florida in June and had it shipped here to NY. After driving for a bit, the front brakes were so loud I sound like a bus. No other mentionable issues. When my local dealer inspected the car for me, they advised me that the fronts were aftermarket pads on not new rotors, causing the noise. I went thru a lot to try and fix it, such as dealing with dampeners, putting moly on the rear plates, etc., but nothing worked. These aftermarket pads are impossible to make cuiet (still no cue except when I cut and paste a cue). I made an attempt 2 weeks after the car was shipped to get the matter taken care of, but basically was told that it's not covered under CPO and that the performance is not compromised. I called NA and opened a claim, but never really heard back from anyone until today. Naples Porsche called me and advised me that they have been speaking to my NY dealer about the brakes. In a nutshell, since the fronts are not OEM, they are covering the full replacement of pads and rotors for the front! How 'bout that??? I'm super excited. They did advise me that I'm on my own for the rears since it's all OEM, but they are almost still "new" back there...not sure why the PO did not stay consistent....anyhow, most of the noise is from the fronts for sure. Sooooooo....KUDOS TO NAPLES PORSCHE FOR COMING THRU!!! THANK YOU!! Just wanted to post my positive experience. Bye, J

POST 2Original post

If they were squeaky, they could have been some sort of race compound more superior than OEM.

POST 3Original post

Could be that the PO just wanted to get something cheaper done knowing that he was going to be selling the car soon, so he opted for the cheaper pads. Nice work on the repair though!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I realize they may be racing pads, and possibly have better performance, but the noise is just ridiculous. More heads turn to see what POS just stopped rather than admire the car. If big reds with OEM pads are good enough for Porsche, they certainly are fine enough with me. J
