Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recently I heard some whirring noises coming from the back of the car and even posted a note here asking people if they knew what it could be. I found out that the problem was a loose exhaust tip and even found a thread which had the solution. The solution involved tightening a bolt near the exhaust tip. So last night, I went under the car and got ready to tighten the bolt when HOLY COW it was completely RUSTED OUT! The bolt started to far apart when i tried to tighten it... Pieces of it were falling off... The engine looks fine - no rust, but the exhaust is completely rusted out. Typically rust doesn't scare me, i understand it happen when you live in Toronto. But the bolt falling apart like that showed me how bad this was. Anyways, just thought I'd share that story. Now it looks like I'll have to take it in to replace the bolts altogether...

POST 2Original post

The stock clamp used to hold the tips on are notorious for rusting out. If it's just the clamp and not the pipes save yourself the shop visit and order a pair of clamps from FabSpeed. They have a great design that makes them easy to install and adjust and are made from stainless. Last I saw they are about $35 for a pair.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its the clamps and the bolts... the rest of the exhaust is not so bad actually... can easily live with it... I just checked out fabspeed.... i'm not sure if that is the correct clamp - the one i'm having trouble with is the one that holds the dual-tips on my C4S. are these one and the same? Check out the photo in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...=exhaust+loose Its the cleaner looking bolt that I'm having trouble with...

POST 4Original post

Luckily, most of the parts underneath the car are plastic, stainless steel, and aluminum. I live in South Texas where it is pretty dry and we never use salt and my tip clamp bolts were pretty rusty also.
