Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Whether the re-boot, the battery charge or both did the trick, I can't tell.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After needing to recharge my battery, my clock in my 996tt 01 will no longer keep proper time. Was OK prior to needing to reset after battery charge. I am not certain whether I am not following the reset procedure or whether sometihing is wrong with the clock. I followed the owner's manual. A search was not helpful. Anyone with this problem...fix...cost of new clock? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Tom

POST 2Original post

Have you tried the classic answer to all computer problems? Disconnect the battery again, walk away for 30 minutes, re-boot

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the sugggstion. The battery is disconnected as I write this. Next I'll be asking how to retrieve radio codes. I'll report back with the final results. Tom

POST 4Original post

The way I got the radio code was to get the serial number of the side of the radio. Really easy to slide out and call the service department at the dealer. Tell them the year and model and shabang.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I not only disconnected the battery, I gave it a full 24 hour charge. Now all is well with the clock back on time Whether the re-boot, the battery charge or both did the trick, I can't tell. In my 993 all problems electrical were attributable to the well known faulty wiring harness. I am beginning to think that in the 996 they are due to altered states of the electrical system, like low charge in the battery. Thanks for the help Tom

POST 6Original post

Congrats, if I didnt know what time it was, I wouldnt be able to get to work on time and pay for my p car.

POST 7Original post

Glad to hear it worked! I am beginning to think that all modern (~1996 introduction or later) cars are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations.
