Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thinking about going to check out a Black 2001 C2 with 38K miles with CPO for $37900. The car has xeon, PSM, rocker panel extensions. The only thing holding me back is the interior color. In your opinion is it a deal breaker? I'm thinking that the porsche dealership has priced it a little low for that reason. Do you think this car is a good deal? It does have a CPO which is important for me.
Is that Natural Brown? Personally I love it on my car - I think it looks like a comfortable old leather jacket, but one of my friends keeps asking why I bought a car with orange seats!
It all depends if you can live with that interior. I know I could.
Generally speaking the interior looks very good! Full leather, black center console, clean and in great condition overall. I'd go for it.
IMO I'd get one that you like the interior...afterall, that's where you'll spend most of your time!
It took my 8 months until I found my 02 with 16K miles so be patient. It just sucks I need to sell now
Wow, you guys are fast! Yes, that's natural brown interior.
If the dealer is asking $37,900 for this car would an offer of $34,000 be reasonable? I'm thinking they might come down since the interior is not common and people like myself might be on the fence about it.
It's personal opinion. Personally, it's not my taste and would be a deal breaker. Nothing personal, just being honest. If you don't love it, why get it ? I also passed on cars based on the interior color.
I like the color, but if it was that green or blue interior I'd hate it and pass...it's all a your preference. Yes, it may have been an option, but some options just aren't worth it. I passed on many a 951 with maroon/red interior. I couldn't imagine paying every month on something I wasn't completely sold on in this first place.
If it is not the color you really want I would wait. On the other hand I would take a color I liked less if it was full leather vs. a color I really liked in the porsche plastic. Car looks great and seems to have decent options.
Looks like a nice car!
Kris
Go with your personal preference. I think it looks okay. They tried to break it up a bit with the black accents (main console, floor mats, air vents, etc.) I might swap a few things around and get the cupholder black to match the radio and temperature box. Maybe get the aluma surround for that upper console also. All in all spend a few bucks to get the interior how you like it and make it your personal touches. Also, custom floor mats are cheap (I just ordered some new ones).
I'd offer them a little lower just to see if they take it. I offered the dealer $7k less than they were asking and couldn't believe that came down $6k so fast. Made me wish I had offered them less.
Probably the difference between vinyl and leather shading when photographed. The airbag is vinyl.
The interior color is nice. If natural brown is a $3K option, then that interior is quite expensive. Because on top of that, the car has full leather interior option. Plus, note the center vent, it's also brown which means that the entire vent is covered leather. That's extra money too. I can't tell what else is done in leather, but looks pricey.
Full Leather only gets you the following:

I didn't care a bit about the full leather option when I bought my car. My car had it, but I hadn't even looked at one with the option when I bought it (long distance). Since I have had it, however, I appreciate it much more and am very glad I got it. Very nice option if you can find it. In my opinion, not a deal killer if you can't because it was quite expensive ($3,280 in 03) and may increase the cost.
I like leather, and the way it makes the car smell! Of course, full leather needs more TLC and has to be cleaned and conditioned, etc, etc. So like you say, if it has it, cool. If not, that's cool too.
On the plus side, I also assume a full leather car will also have more options.
For some reason I really like the interior.
Actually, I understand your situation. I was initially looking for black on black. But I found this car and after some extra looking around, it was just too nice of a car and too good of a deal to pass up. And it didn't take long to really love the natural brown. The biggest issue I had was the wood trim, which is not your case. The leather dash and control surrounds make a huge difference IMHO. I get nothing but positive comments on it.
Pardon the extra-wide pic. I had just got this wide angle lense and was trying to see "how wide" it actually was.
I have full leather on my C4S and after a bunch of research, I've decided that for the dash, doors and basically anything I don't sit on, I just dust the leather with a soft cloth. 3.5 years later the leather still looks brand new. It's very hard to put on cleaners and conditioners in an even way and then you get different shades in your leather. Anyhow, with this strategy, the leather has been pretty hassle free for me
Wait for what you really want. There are a lot of the cars out there and the right one will come along. I have the Boxster red full leather interior (996) and it is what I searched for for some time. Yes, the original owner paid a fortune for it. In the pre-owned market, it may actually be harder to sell making the car worth less to some - I don't really care. Some hate it, but I love it - and that is all that matters really
Good luck finding the car YOU want.
That's the way you should approach this. If you like it and plan to keep it cool. If you like it and plan to resell eventually just accept the fact that it might take a little longer to sell or you might take a small hit on it. Or if you like the interior and can get a great deal then it might be worth it. Just ask yourself if you like it enough to live with it every day and still be happy when you occasionally see "the car you really wanted". If you can't say yes then hold out for what you really want - it is out there and you might have to wait a little while but the wait is worth it.
I think it looks hot, but that's my opinion, and I'm not buying the car. I think it would look great in my lapis blue.
Tell you what, I've got a grey interior - buy the car, come on up to Woodinville and lets spend a couple of days swapping interiors.
It's just a color man and it's not an ugly one either.
Beside some really lurid color combinations I'd not be concerned about it. But that maybe just me and I have a Wimbledon Green 996. I always try to buy the right car for the right price, a specific color is not important for me. I'd not pass on this car if it is mechanically in great shape, is offered at the right price and place with CPO just because I may not like to color.
I have natural brown interior in my C4S and I think its one of the best color interior porsche has done. The only thing that I do not care for in the car that you are looking at are cup holder set-up that's on top of the dash console.
Here are pics. of my interior.
Blake - Your interior reminds me of a classic Jaguar interior! Darker brown than the other samples, right? I like the wood in this case! Looks much better than it does on that Cinnamon interior!
AndyK - It could be slightly darker. In 2000, the natural brown was only available on the Millennium Edition. So, it's probably a little different. Could be some difference in the lighting too. It looks like manny_g's photos were taken with a flash, which could lighten it up.
A local PCA member has a 997 with natural brown and it's very close to mine.
hi , from a dealer perspective, a brown interior is a bit of a liability since it reduces the number of potential customers, much like this thread is touching on. A black with tan interior would be more favorable for many. If the interior is really slowing the sale of the car it may have caused the price to be reduced but usually only after the car has sat for awhile. Worthwhile understanding the story a bit more from the dealer.
