Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It was very hard to re-use the sleeve as you recommended.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I couldn't wait. PSE was sitting in my garage , right in front of my car, where I could see it eveytime I went in or out. Service is scheduled for Tues, which would have included the PSE install.
I printed Loren's post on PSE instal, and went to it. Total of 4 hours, including a dinner break and a snack break, and a neghborly chit-chat break. Total work time maybe 2 hours amateur time.
Loren, just one suggestion on your post on the PSE install. The sleeve that connects the muffler to the cats is a crush type sleeve. It was very hard to re-use the sleeve as you recommended. The PSE comes with new sleeves. These new sleeves are just a bit oversized to make slipping in easier, then crushed down with the two straps to fit. Had to partly take the muffler down again to remove the old sleeve and slip in the new one
.
Sound is great. It accentuates the muted growl of the stock exhaust at idle, giving a distinctive bass drum thump-thump. Nice mellow roar at acceleration. Not too loud, certainly won't have the neighbors up in arms if you drive off at 2 in the am. Maybe a bit quieter than I expected. I can't believe that it breaks sound limits in Europe. I certainly will never find the need for connecting the quiet switch. Windows up, cruising at 65-70 mph, I can't tell the diff from stock. Until I downshift and floor it, that is. Then that mellow roar comes on.
Is it worth the $1600-$2000 plus install? For me it is. PSE is certainly louder, brassier and more sporty without being harsh or objectionable. But the stock sound of the 2002 911 was no slouch, either. I'm off to DE this Friday, then auto-X end of the month. We'll see how it howls then.
You know Palting when I was leaving the Porsche dealership saw a C4S like yourself leaving as well and had the PSE on-sounds awesome!! My Fabspeeds fried after 25k miles(miss it though) so rt now have stock mufflers so PSE maybe for me. How are thing's going for you? Regards and I woulda kept the electronics off too : ). Regards. Mike
I'm doing fine, Mike. Thanks for asking. I'm still trying to find means of making it to Laguna Seca
.
I'm curious as well. How'd the Fabspeed get fried?
Well after running for about 25k miles I started to notice exhaust was sounding louder then normal like straight thru which man almitey could wake up the dead. So off to the dealer and had them check out for exhaust leaks and determined the welds on the pipe to the muffler blew out on left side and that after taking it off - rattling noise inside the muffler. Now I am running stock(oh so quiet
) and my fabs are sitting in the garage(are they fixable?)-How it fried I have no clue other then i drive kinda hard in a good way. And of all places to noticed the sound change was at the track. Next morning what a delight for my neighbors. I'm going to Laguna Seca in Sept with Greenflag-should be fun and my first time there. Regards. Mike
Ditto Loren.
Just installed mine. Also took about 4 hours start to finish and struggling with a couple of difficult fasteners. The exhaust clamps were somewhat of a pain to remove from the old exhaust and place on the new exhaust.
Sounds great, very much like Palting described. Loud but not obnoxious; it gives the car a sense of urgency it was lacking. Great upgrade!
