Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some may know I bought it used (certified Porsche) and I've been reading this forum religiously and asking questions....Could the dealer look up my VIN and tell me how my car was ordered?

POST 2Original post

no...but for $100 PCNA will sell you an "official certificate" with the option codes...or you could look on the option sticker affixed to your car.

POST 3Original post

Look at the option sticker that is placed on the inside of the front bonnet or hood. It will tell you all the option codes along with the VIN number, paint code, and build date. You could probably post the option codes here and somebody should be able to decipher them for you.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went back to the ebay auction and found this picture. Are these the codes? The auction... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10156

POST 7Original post

From what I can tell... X70 are metal door sills... XSC is the Porsche crest in the headrest... X71 are aluminum guages... I do not know the rest...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

GOOGLE is your friend! http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp Looking them up now.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmmmm...I have the hi-fi sound (490), not BOSE. No wonder it sounds like crap!

POST 10Original post

But very easy to upgrade into a kick asz system.

POST 12Original post

In my 99 C2 with the HiFi... I had a 3 way seperate component system installed in the front (JL Audio XR-653cs). This consisted of a 6.5" in the doors with a 4" and tweeter in the dash. The 6.5" will need to be mounted on a custom baffle, but does not require any cutting. Focal also makes an excellent 3 way system. Do not bother replacing the rear speakers, they can not be heard... in fact disconnect them all together. For best sound quality, you should replace the headunit and get a proper amp that can put out some real power. If you really want to get into it, you can do a sub behind the rear seats. I had two 8" subs in a custom enclosure.

POST 13Original post

Unless Porsche changed its policy, you can call Porsche and they will tell you how the car was built and what dealer delivered the car. I have not done it in about a year but used to call them all the time. [phone removed] Good luck. Roy
